i was just wondering if anybody has built a semi with a hotrod flare. Where can a person find one to buy. lets see some old semi pics
The only cool one I have seen is Greg Porter's 1957 Mack car hauler that is black with flames and chrome lug nuts... It is awesome.... (No I don't have any pics, sorry) but it is the nicest hot rod semi I have ever seen. I have seen some rat-rod abortions and those should be avoided at all costs.
There have been several threads on this. Must not be searching right, cuz I ain't finding them. Spend some time with the search though. At least 1 Hamber builds traditional - styled hot rods based on heavy trucks in his shop. One of the threads had TONS of pictures (some really cool stuff and some abortions)
this was a semi. used to haul caterpillar tractors. 1947 diamond t 614. just fab up a bed and rear fenders and there ya go.
Here are two recent pictures of my '53 Mack and my amateur version of photoshop on how I plan to build the bed. I plan to keep it Mack green though.
Found this sitting right off the side of hwy. 40 while p***ing through Fraser, Colorado last year. It'd been sitting there for awhile.
I read a post the other day, the poster said there was a thread on "big-truck" based hot rods. I didn't find it, but this was on the www.
This is gone, there building a bank there now. It was for sale for a while. Dont know what happened to it.
Anybody been to the truck salvage between Kansas City and Olatha the north side of the turnpike, man they have some kool stuff in there and it seems like everytime I go by its grown more .
This one was at the San Francisco Rod And Custom last year. Not real Hamb freindly but a cool Roadster Semi in its own way.
I saw that yard this past summer while on the way to pick up an engine. Sure would have liked to stop and check it out.
Hey, John Walker beauuutiful job on that bed. that's the way I like to see things done. Hey nail head, I got a few big truck projects let me think a bit, maybe I'll let one go. Got customers right now I'll get back to you later.
I saw that at Laguna Seca this past summer. The guy said he built it just for fun. Drew quite a crowd.
if you are in ca. , just go to I5 & watch for em !! in L.A. any freeway will work . there are lots of custom , low rider BIG trucks out there ............ steve
Theres only a fine line between hot rodding and big rigs. Making HP and torque is a given in the big diesels that this country has produced over the years. And it's the USA that produces the coolest trucks & diesels, where other countrys have more of a cookie cutter all the same mentality....here you can order a Pete or KW or ? with the engine or tran's YOU want...not to mention other spec's...gauges...seats....running gear...etc. Custom built to order...or they sell them generic too. Or build your own like a hot rod
Check with the Chrome Shop Mafia they build custom semis. They had a show on CMT called trick my truck. MIke
Do a search for them.I found a trucking company in north carolina about a year ago that had a few old big rigs ,early 60`s and older for sale.Good prices too.
Hey nailhead, I go to of them you might want to look at one day. one is a '47 International Semi Tractor, single axel, 6cyl red diamond, gas engine. I been working on restoring it all stock. Got a lot of projects though and could let it go. It's got brand new tires, new brakes, rebuilt engine - runs good. Could be a fun project. other is a '53 Jimmy semi tractor, gas engine, 5 window cab, all there. Hasn't been started on yet. This is an Original old truck deserves to be restored - could be really cool. pics if you want them.
Nice swept back look. "Ya know what....Keep those fenders! Maybe just me but that's got cool potential.
Yeah, the old Diamond T's from that era have great lines, but they get really ugly in the late 40's early 50's.
There are a couple of *****in' ones running around here in Ramona...I'll try to snap pix at our next cruise in
umm how many tv's and other non practical things u can throw on a "big truck" show... is what it should be called
Do any of you SoCal guys remember the Semi that looked like a big T-bucket? The only place i've ever seen it was cruising down Colorado Blvd, the night before the Rose Parade...
