Post pics of your 30's cars with a Hemi in it

Well as some of you know, i have a 33 Plymouth i brought this past summer, i just recently picked up a 354 Cherysler Hemi motor that i will be putting in it over the summer ,, i hope.

I would love to see some similar 1930's cars like mine with a Hemi in it.

Here is a pic of mine with the Hemi next to it, i only want to loose the side covers and keep the lid. So ANY and ALL pics would be great and Awsome to see.

I need some modivation, so let the pics roll..

When it comes to a 30's car with a Hemi....nothing does it for me like DeSoto's car...

Here is a pic of my son n laws car. it is a 1938 dodge truck body, hood, and grille shell. mated to a 1956 chrysler newyorker trunk and quarters. we took 15 inches out of the chrysler to mate it up to the dodge. 38 ford frame and a 51 buick dash. 9 inch rear, 4 inch dropped axle. motor is 354 hemi mated to 700r4 trans

Hey kerry that pontiac is nice. did you replace the wood? And is that the original frame?

 

Thanks for the kind words Ghost. Yep, the wood was a mess. In fact the longest piece of wood left in it when I got it was about a foot long. :-/ The sheetmetal was pretty solid other than behind the door on the p***enger side. Here's what it looked like when I started.



I used a few different sizes of square steel tube, bending, pie cutting, and welding to shape. A lot of work and quite a few things I'd do different next time.

The frame is made from the front of a 32 Chevy pickup ch***is, and the rear is the 31 Pontiac. I made a xmember, both upper and lower out of 1/8" rect tube.

 

It's a '29....but the same idea...

 

Here is my work in progress '34 Plymouth with a 354. The heads are too wide to keep the stock hood sides on so I'll only be running with only a top as well.


This is a photoshop of someone else's '34 to show what I'm going for.

 

Here's mine. Looks way different than this now

 

We did not use the hood sides also. and put twin fours on the hemi. had to cut the hood open on top. reinforced the hood with a laser cut steel plate to fit the outline of the cut. the hood still opens side to side using the original hinge. good luck with yours. GHOST

 

All the cars look great, Giving me some good ideas and i can see what i have to do to fit some of the parts, like headers and all.

I gotta say, a hemi in anything is cool!!

 

Need some engine placement help! putting 330 Desoto in 29 coupe,channeled 4" , stock dimension frame . Need some measurements , i know that I'm going to have to move the radiator forward of the cross-member but need a measurement from the front of the block to the radiator , i was thinking 9" but not sure , i'm planning on using a sbc waterpump , i also think I'm going to have to cut the lip off the firewall for the distributor to fit . I see alot of coupes with the firewall not touched i guess there using a stretched frame . any guidance and pics would help a great deal. Thanks Hambers
