Width of a stock 55 Chev. rear end

Does anyone happen to know, or would measure for me, the width of a stock 55 Chevrolet rear end housing. brake drum-to-brake drum? I have a chance to buy a narrowed 9" Ford rear end w/disc brakes and need to know if it would fit without a lot of modification. Thanks.

 

I think that it is 60 inches outside to outside.i took mine out long ago and sold it.

 

I just walked out back and measured one of mine.

53 ½ inside of backing plate to inside.
59 ½ outside face of drum to outside
