I am rounding up parts for a front end swap for a '50 F1 Ford truck. I read a lot of posts about using a XJ6 or XJ12 front suspension from late '70s up through '87.
I have located a '86 XJS with the V12 enjine. Can anyone tell me if this car used the same suspension as the Series III XJ cars?
The Jag front suspension swap for the F1 Fords is gaining popularity. It is a very simple bolt in swap.
Any help with information about the Jag donors would be appreciated.

Not a completely bolt in swap but easy. I have a full article from a magazine in the UK that shows it done to a Chevy pickup. I put one in a 49 F1 years back. The XJS is the same but gives you bigger brakes. I've put one in my 50 chevy sedan as it is so easy.

Take a look at the www.ford-trucks.com site. Look at the 48-60 forum and the suspension thread at the top of page.

Actually the brakes late series two and series three XJ6 are the same as the XJS - they are totaly interchangable. Great front suspensions. do be aware however that in the Jaguar they do 'collapse' some over a lot of miles. Look for camber shims still in place. My 285,000 mile '86 XJ6 has no shims left in and the camber is getting worse. One of the things I need to change out. some shops do straighten them, but my experience is they just bend again. Been driving and working on those cars for over 20 years by the way. I have read some claim they are not strong enough to be used a frame cross member, but not that in the stock install they carried the engine weight, which is not generally done in a rod/custom install.

Hey aldixie just saw your gallery of the chev w/ a jag frontend. I just now researching this setup for a 48 f1. I noticed on your frontend the shocks dont come up as high as the other swaps i have seen. Did you swap out the stocks for shorter ones to clean it up and not need the big shock tower? And are those airbags? Looks very clean. Any help is appreciated. Zeke
