Now let me get this right... We don't like Boyd when he pushes the envelope and gets more guys to spend $$$ on Rods/Customs etc... and WE DONT like him when he builds a T coupe Most of you would BLOW yer LOAD over if a Hamber built. I hope I have that right.... Nope, I don't call it a BEATER... It's a hot rod....OHHHH...****, it has a finished InTERIOR. Guess it isn't welcome here. That goldchain ******* built a car that anyone could drive with creature comforts.... SHAME on him!!! Put it on record, I dig it (except for the 1/4 windows) But hey to each their own... Maybe you guys would hate my TRADITIONAL early BOYD wheels!!! BRUSH FInish...pure early '80's retro [IMG]

BTW, thanks for teachin' me how to use CAPs GeRm!!!

ok did he blow away the comp or did you ***s get so caught up in the hatered that you forgot to take a pic of the "other guys not cool enuff rod "for ****s sakes people really

  5. I liked the T alot. I'm not really sure why but I actually liked the 1/4 window treatment.

That car and the pickup were built for the show and supposed to drive out to the nats.

Well Boyd did drive his...The pick up only made about 400 miles under it's own power [IMG]

Boyds car was certianly NOT a ratrod by any sence of the word. But to me it had super traditional style, stance, a good attiude, But really needed some 16 bi-plys for the perfect look.

At this point I don't quite know what to make of theis cross-over with Boyd, but it will be interesting to see what happens next.

I'd paint the T hugger orange ane put some cream steele wheels on it and call it done [IMG]

  6. weak. He built a 99% finished ride, right down to completed body work and interior, and calls it a beater? Just paint it with the usual 2 tone and swash down the side and put us outta our misery. It's like he's playin "dress up greaser" for a day...blecchhh.

Well if you saw the lackluster prices his cars brought on that big auction last fall maybe he has changed course, and maybe he let that grumpy old tin banger build what he wanted once.

i dont really like t coupes but that one looks pretty good... i met boyd once ......hes a pompus *** along with a handful of other builders who are trying to re-invent the ****ing wheel in the end its a damn car!!!! i hate it when people make more out of it than that , they dont cure cancer or feed the hungry.......... just cause someone can build something cool gives them no excuse to have a bunch of at***ude cause some lackys are telling them how good they are............i think guys with at***ude takes away from their accomplishments....**** boyd!

unfortuantly boyd doing a car like this makes it positive that trad. style cars are becoming a trend for the m***es and not just those that understand it

I personally don't like the car. That's just me, but I don't. Some of you were saying it's good to see him getting back to hotrodding.. is that cause it's not painted? I've only seen about 5 minutes of one of his shows, but it looked like something I wouldn't be intrested in. The entire time they were measuring the oil pump to make sure the pan would clear. Who the hell cares? Maybe I need to watch more, who knows. If someone came on here who built the most billet, wierd looking, somewhat resembles a traditional hotrod car, but then decided to impress some of you by primering one, would you like it? Once upon a time I was going to Mustang II my car, but you know what? It worked the way it was before. If I wanted a car that drove like a new car, I'd buy a new car. Avoid the Boyd.

    kool T.

And really, whats wrong with him(or his crew) building stuff that fits our taste better than some of his earlyer things?
I dont know about you,but I actually learned a thing or two from his tech articles in the 70`s mags, and Ive picked up a trick or two from his other cars too. (maybe mostly how I DONT want it,but still... [IMG] )
Even if I dont like 98% of his cars,I will easily admit that this T is pretty kool. sorry. [IMG]

Who built the car doesn't matter to me. I like the CAR.

I know some ***holes with killer cars and I know some truly nice guys with total pieces of ****. Who they are doesn't change what I think of their cars. And for the record - I like Boyd as a person.

I spoke with Boyd's son yesterday and he said that the T is riding on a pair of '34 Chevy frame rails that were heavily modified. He said it handles like a slot car. The 1/4 windows were done just to change its look a bit. Boyd drove it from California to KY but some high roller bought it from him 1/2 way there.

If the car turns up in your area, shoot me a PM. After logging a few miles in my RPU I could get real interested in this T.

For those of you who can stand to watch, the build-up of the pair is going to be on the show in October.

    Later haters, JH : [IMG]

Boyd can go to hell, If a HAMB'er built this car hell' ya I'd be drooling, but because he sees the way the tide has turned, he decides,"hey i wanna build a rat-rod". This ***got and his supporters can f@#k off, I don't care what he builds, who works for him, and especially who supports him... My loyalty is to the H.A.M.B members who aren't posers, like this jerk..

Understand WHAT? As I read what you wrote, you're saying that it's OK for traditional style cars to be a trend for those who understand it, but not for the m***es - is that correct? It's a TREND for ANYONE who wasn't around when it was THE only style. What is there to understand? What do YOU understand that makes it OK for you to build and own a traditional rod or custom that the others don't understand?

I don't know Boyd but he comes off as kind of a jerk on the show. I don't think there is any kind of car he could build at this point that wouldn't get him cursed on the HAMB by some. I liked the T and would be proud as hell if I built it. It is a much more interesting ride than that bananna give away car.
It would be interesting to see how some of those that find it easy to hate him would act if people were beating down their door for $150,000 cars.
I still don't much car for the guy.

back onto the car, I don't like the full hood on it. If he handn't put that on it would look alot better.

Hood on? Hood off? ....I'm torn.

For a plain and simple, no flash look I think the hood works.

Boyd has always said he likes to see the lines of a car and not its bumps, handles, or barbs. So many of his cars have been ALL lines with little to no "hiccups" to break their flow.

I imagine building a traditional-styled hot rod is tough for him - leaving many of those those hiccups to be seen. The thought of running no hood probably gave him a headache.

Having said that, he built a '32 pick up a few years ago that was featured in Street Rodder. It was one of the nicest traditional-style hot rods I've seen. NO custom body mods and running all the "hiccups" that came on it when new - 'cept for its fenders.
