    Hi Guy's,

I'm about to put a 4 bar rear in my 50 Chevy Sedan. At the moment I have a 78 Camaro rear fiited on the stock springs with a plate notched to center the rear due to the offset location on the original springs.
I'm also about to bag it as well with some Airride technologies sleeve over shocks.

I'm not going to run a notch and remember reading somewhere that the rear from an S10 4x4 will give more clearance for the tires when its lowered. I'm also running skirts on the rear.

If thats the case then I have a local yard that has some S10 rears that are on a rack, how can I tell in the rear is from a 4x4.

    Thanks,

    Alex

i have a 78 firebird rear end maybe they are the same but it is 62 inches wide in order to fit under my rockstar i would need it to not be as wide 60 inches is perfect under the rear for a 53 54 i don't know what the width would need to be for a 50 though

Depends what Camaro rearend you've got. S-10's are usually 7.5" ring gear with small bearings, axles, etc. Not the best if you're running any horsepower...

The Camaro rear fits perfectly, althought its close with the rear tires on the skirts. At the moment the rear is lowered by a couple of inches with blocks. I'm afraid that once the 4 bar goes in the tires will rub in the wheel wells.

will you be able to get the tires off if you get a flat or would you have to jack up the rear end of the car? That is one of the big reasons i am doing an s-10

I've had no problems so far with changing wheels, I do have to jack up on the frame so that the rear lowers itself down. The camaro rear was 60", has limited tire size though. I've gone for a restorod look so the outside of the car looks standard.

all this info is no subs***ute for a tape measure. 9' ford, 8" maverick, 55-57 chevy, s10, camaro, gm metric, all work just depends on wheel/tire and rear axle overall width.
