Score! You can easily go to an earlier style grille/front end if you want. Parts for these are plentiful and rather reasonable. Find a wrecked car with a good engine/trans and you'll be rolling. You can get it driveable then decide if you're going to keep/finish it or sell/trade it for something else. You'll make some $$$ on it for sure.
Poor mans way to do the quarter windows is to not cut them. Make a pocket for the glass in the sheetmetal above or below the opening and recess the glass into it.Finish the metalwork nicely and you are done.
I'd say that rearend is out of a GM G-body. It's probably a 10-bolt 7.5". I say that because I swapped one out for an 8.5", and the major tell of the 7.5" (from that angle) is the little tab that sticks out over the yoke. For $500 that thing is killer! I wish I could get a '54 for that cheap!
Definate major score! I think the chop looks killer! I can see it rolling on chromed reveresed with maybe a candy green!
Hell yeah, SCORE! Even if you sell it on as is you will come out in front! Hell, throw it together and sell it to a mini trucker that wants a transition car to get into hot rods. Me? Id finish it and use it as a daily driver, nothing flash but a cool stand out car. Doc.
I would say score - $500 would not even get that truck chopped! Here is one (below) that is listed for sale in my area (for $8k)- IGNORE the Pro Street set up and you can see what these trucks look like chopped and sitting right. Keep us posted on the progress.
ill geive you $600 and a frist place position on my myspace frinds list......want to buy a 53 chevy car?
Scrap the rear suspension, triangulated 4 bar will work better and last longer. Fill in the corner windows, problem solved.
Thanks dude. Maybe I'll put some IROC wheels on it and put some 6x9's in the rear glass so I can jam some Armored Saint Next step is getting the cab off and in a garage to tend to the big holes in the back where glass was..... Thanks All
i would paid 500 for it..looks good and the 4 link set up and rear frame work has well over 500 invested..
man thats a great find. You should have no problem with that corner glass as long as you can find a good glass guy.
So I sold the dog house and bed frame for $250 and sold the title for another $200. I'm gonna use the cab and rear fenders but the rear snub has to go .
