From one Zepp fan to another...........It's a damn shame if they auction them off. American treasures.

I've been looking for a project popemobile for years, this could be the big chance. Was thinking flat black with red Radirs and wide white cheater slicks. And maybe a chain steering wheel. The little kind you can drive with handcuffs.

Popemobile with a bubbletop, someone call Plowboy in on this!

  7. I'm sure the '89 Tracker boom box will go for big $$$$$$.

Just another example of too much money spent on stupid ideas. And people wonder why they are going under.

oh man, the 1995 Monte Carlo "Led Sled" is on that list.
If im thinking right, that is actually a preproduction car that Dick Dean chopped, for a late model its a really sharp car!!!

This could very well be your chance to daily-drive a GM concept car for window sticker of a non-concept version. Lot of that "restyled" late model stuff goes in the $20s when auctioned. I don't care how stupid it is, everyone offering critique wouldn't be loading their groceries in a factory concept, so they could fawk off. :)

The cars are already listed on B-J's web site, although no pics yet. I put that 93 Camaro ZL-1 "572" on my revised Christmas list!

Hmm,Maybe a "Zonker"? or the Typhoon? A "Limp #8" doesn't sound to enticing?
    Ohhh,that's LMP#8 !

Some of the vettes might be decent performance pieces? COPO's?

  14. Not COPOs---In-house race car toys :D The Snake Skinner is BAD-ASS ;)

I'm truly glad they're not selling any of the GOOD stuff(Mako Shark I, Manta Ray<Mako II>, the 50's two-seat Caddy, etc) I'm not too hip on borrowing money....but I WOULD for some of that stuff!:eek:

Damn lucky I got to go thru the Heritage museum last March(Thanks BobK!) When that history is gone(sold), it will likely never be together again :(

GM routinely sells some cars thru BJ in Palm Beach and Scottsdale every year - this list is a bunch bigger, but is still a culling of some of the less memorable vehicles. Those of you who have visited the Heritage Center know the really good stuff is not on the list - I'm holding out for the 62 409 bubbletop......:D So this isn't REALLY the end of GMs heritage...

I am agreeing with the vast majority here, neat list but only a handful I would even consider owning. Im sorry but the modern cars do nothing for me at all...............but I would like to have the early Pontiacs and Olds on the list.

Looks to me like they are selling anything that is an Olds or Pontiac, I guess they can't bear the thought of dropping both of those lines! So to help they just act like they were never there! I really will miss the Pontiac line. That was my first really fast car. 64 GTO:(

I'd take the ZR2 corvette (its a big block), that thing is bad ass. I remember some of those cars when I use to work there back in the 90's.

Its a Sad day for GM.

Just like their $20K plane rides to ask for bailout money this looks like something that will cost as much to get them there as they will make.

that '04 olds touring shopuld bring some cash.

  26. i wonder if GM corporate actually owns them...usually big companies start a "non-profit" stand alone organization , put in some board of directors , then donate the stuff to it... then they can take a tax right-off for the donation . and then since they are non-profit , they can look around for government grants

This makes me really sad to see. And it makes me even sadder to see they are selling them at a BJ auction :( I've been reading over the past couple days that this has been planned for awhile (read: we decided to do this before we asked for a gigantic bailout) but I find that hard to believe since there has been no mention of it in BJ catalogs or even BJ's Lifestyle magazine I received just last week.

JimA is right-- this will cost them huge. I'm sure (well, I'd like to hope) they got a deal on entering the cars into the auction but the shipping, the storage, the prep, the casualties and the selling fees will be ridiculous. Wonder why they just didn't hold their own auction?

I agree. It's hard to believe with RM Auction being right here in the Metro Detroit area that they are hauling all those cars to AZ. Sounds like dinner with Guy is in order to get the whole scoop.

    Very sad.

Yes they do and from what I understand the cars listed are approx 10% of their total collection which are stored in warehouses all over this area. The Heritage Center just had a fraction on display for those that could get an invite in, and those were rotated in and out on a regular bases.
