Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HiboyGirl, Nov 17, 2008.

  1. speedway motors has same stuff that was popular in 60 s
a firewall mounted fuel thingy I had one on my 54 chev in 63

I did your research for you ,
    a T style fuel block 3 outlet

    part #550-6151 $10.99 1 800 979 0122 www.SpeedwayMotors.com

red fuel line would have been used then but is fairly dangerous now for modern day use
red fuel line is 910-11450 for 3/8 in

my onley qualifications for this advice is I am 63 year old and I did have a red clear fuel line fly off a fitting and spray me and catch my arm on fire in 1972 on a tri power olds[ I was not hurt,] but the damage took awhile to fix and that car was running a t fuel log that i had on the 54 in 1963

    You may check Charlie's stock:
    http://www.vintagespeed.com/

He has a bunch of old-style stuff - some of it so close that he has to use the word "style" behind it (like "Almquist Style") so he doesn't get sued for copyright infringement! :D

There's some really nice ones on there.

  4. my roadster has the same fuel block as the one in his first pictures, which did not seem to how they did it then

proabbly was all done in copper, more 2 carb set ups then

just had a brain spark and rember we used the wire hose clamps think they are called corbin, thats why a slippery red fuel line could fly off and we got war surplus anodized aluminum fuel fitting back then from I think honest charley, actually think I still got one or 2 left they were usually blue

another nice setup is to paint between the fins on alum covers, I just got a new set of covers a couple weeks ago for my 53 chev and taped off the fins, front and bottom and enamel primed and used a very dark red and sprayed the valleys of the fins and I think it looks nice
I should look at some of my albums of car show pictures, some of the very early 60's and they had a lot of show cars that were a lot more finished then than now
I think cars progressed a lot from the 50's to the 60's and the supply of spendable cash increased for some people [ i was stuck on a farm with no job and no parts or fun so its time to overcompensate now]

not being a wise *** but a lot of younger people sure are mixed up about what parts go where but I still have some of the old stuff in stock in my shop and have thrown a lot away
racing chev stock cars for 18 years i stripped a lot of junkers and sorted a lot of stuff, actualy my first 2 stock cars were 55 chev,NOT a good suspension for rough dirt tracking
and my first car that was a road driver when i went to tech school was a 55 chev, you could pull a engine in about 30 min on those, ah to be young again
