I recently bought several cars and a**** them were 3, 60's drag cars. I need old pictures and any info if anyone has. One is Les Ritchey's 65 Fairlane K-code Automatic that was part of the 65 Ford drag team. The other 2 are 64 Comets that were run in AHRA in the late 60s-early 70s. They were raced by the Kendig carb company team. One Comet ran at the 64 or 65 AHRA Winternationals in Arizona. They were raced at most of the southern California tracks (Lions, Orange co. etc.)as well. Any info will be appreciated.
apound. That car was driven by Ron Root. LA Policeman who later worked for NHRA. Can you post some pics? PM me and I chat some more about the car
apound, you might go over to the fordfe.com forum. A lot of good info over there on the early ford drag cars. Also there is a thread on this board called early super stock...afx cars. Do a search and you will see it. There is about 65-70 pages of pics and info. Good luck.
I think I have a picture of a Comet on an LA area drag strip from 65 or 66, and I might have one of that Fairlane. I will check. Does anyone have any contact information for Ron Root?
That would be great if you did. thanks for looking. I'm not sure but I think Ron Root died of cancer in 2005. I could be wrong but I found something to that effect on the internet.
Sorry for the late response here. Unfortunately, the picture I have is of the Rick Shaw Russ Davis Ford Falcon.
Contact Bob plumer on the nitro geezer site he took photos of most of the cars back then.He also sells them, Drag Memories is the name of his co.
Could you post the photo of the Rick Shaw Falcon, I am not familiar with that one. I have photos of a lot of the Falcons of that era. If you had rather you can PM me.
Thanks, I'll try there. That is the exact same Kendig lettering that is on my Comet. I sent the picture of Dyno Don's Kendig Maverick to the man I bought the cars from. It will be interesting to hear his comments on it. He was good friends with Don and was even a partner with him in a business venture Travelite.
