saw this car at the pile up 2008, just wonderdin if he is a hamber or not. it is one of the baddest cars I have ever seen.
Yeah, he rescued that body from a salvage yard in MI which is still owned by the guy who raced that car back in the 50's on dirt tracks. I read about it in the Rodder's Journal too.
See the 4th post in this thread: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=300980 I'll add a few photos, too.... Malcolm
Rare Kinmont brakes. I don't know alot about them, but I'm pretty sure they are disc brakes inside...
its funny we always give people **** when they spend 10k on rare weird **** on ebay but when its actually on the car we all have hard ons. i might love this car.
Some good info here about the Kinmonts: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=166028&highlight=kinmont&showall=1
I WISH I had more time at te Pile-Up to check out some of those cars! With that sign in front, I didn't even notice te front bumper. If I had seen that, I would have given a closer look!!! DAMN! Hopefully, it'll be back next year. I wouldn't paint that car, unless it was to put it back like an old stock car!
Another cool part of this car was the way he mounted the f1 steering box. He used a steering bracket off of an old VW bus and milled off the flange on the box. the VW bracket clamps around the f1 box and mounted to the frame. very factory looking
It also depends on WHO does it. Call it the Law of the Internet Car Forum. Love the coupe. Probably would fetch a boat-load of cash on eBay!
I'd fix the damn rust and paint that ****er. I'd detail the hell out of it as well... I would not let it sit there and rot, and that is exactly what that thing is doing.... don't for a second pretend it isn't, or that rust is cool. even surface rust, **** that.... Someone needs to care about that car and take care of it.
