I guess I'm more of a restorer but I agree with yall on this thread nothing should be wasted. I like seeing some of the ingenuity you guys have to build something out of hardly anything.
Im an avid member of the "freecycle" society(for those not in the know, its a site created to keep useable items out of the landfill, and I have given and recieved some cool things including car parts)....too bad us carnuts dont have the same thing out there
For the last 2 years I have been building 69 Chevy trucks. Two of the 4 I have bought have been complete junkers. I guess in a way I am not turning them into landfills material...but using them the fix the other 2 I Have. I have 1 LWB stepside and the other longtime project is a LWB Fleet. Parts have gone to good use...parts have been sold and given away...What wasnt usable was recycled. BTW...anyone here in the area of Springfield IL....I have a 3/4 ton 69 Chevy frame...with rear end and front suspension....I will give it away.
My Dad has owned this old 1938 Plymouth coupe stock car for almost 30 years...we think it raced in the early 60's. Been neglected for nearly 50 years and we pulled it out on 5/27/12 to begin a "restoration". Guess we'll be needing a bulk discount for wire brushes and rustoleum, LOL.
i like it when some one actually polishes a rolling turd and it shines , nothing better than seeing it cant be done , being done
How I found my Morris, looking kinda sad here, no chassis, no drive train: There was plenty of this going on: Plenty of repairing went on: But it was worth it in the end, an old classic resurrected from the grave:
I know my 29 had been passed on by a few local rod builders for being to ruff before I got my hands on it. And please forgive the Mexican blanket. It has been replaced.
Right on, Dude I have always felt like there is a driver in everything - I just love how this post showcases the vision, creativity and enginuity of the members of this community! I realize it is an old post - but so are the cars and trucks its about... the way it inspires me is always fresh - thanks
