I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on my problem. I have a 51 f-1 that I just recently rebuilt the brakes on. The problem is that when I let it sit over night in the garage the next day as I pull it out the front brakes lock up. It's either one side or the other, just skids down the driveway. But if I then drive it around the block it goes back to normal. Until it sits over night again. WTF??? Anyone got any ideas of had the same problem. Thanks Mac

  2. Duck, didn't you have the same kind of problem with the Chevy?

Mv F-1 got to locking up on the right front. It was the old rubber brake hose.It looked fine but inside it had broken up and was acting as a check valve not letting brake release untill it sat a while.I replaced both sides no more trouble

  4. I had the same problem on a 59 Chrysler. It had a dual wheel cyl system but I chased the damn problem for two years. It turned out to be one of the 4 wheel cylinders was sticky and did not engage as fast as the other ones causing the other side to lock up until it made a few cycles and freed up a bit.

Your problem sounds different though, with it switching from side to side. Make sure the drums are dry inside and that the return springs are good as well.

Mine really pissed me off, there is not much to the brake system just go over it with a fine tooth comb.:)

Thanks for the help guys. Brakes are always a touchy subject. I'll have to go over them again.
