I was wondering if anyone has any good pics of a leaf spring setup, with a c notched frame on a 49-54 chev. I dont want to run bags. I have a good idea on how to do mine but would like to see how others have done theirs. Also any good pics of the foor or tunnel mods. I cant seem to find any on here.

Bags really are not that much more money and you will be able do adjust your ride. And if your roads are bad like mine in OHIO that adjustment will be nice. Spend the extra money and do it the best insted of the cheapest.

I have custom made De-Arched Springs with Gambino Notch, And im using a 55 chevy rearend. I am just trying to keep the low budget theme and be old school. Bags are cool I just cant afford them.

I was going to use the Gambino parts on my rise also . Maybe they could show us some pictures from install they have done.

  14. My homey Raunchero13 just did a killer job on the rear suspension and trunk in his '52....check out his pics here...http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=309007 You can also search for "Gambino notch" on here and get a bunch of other pics.

Whether you're running bags or leaf springs, the notch, tunnel, wheel wells, etc. are pretty much the same.

Here's some pics of my setup, well the best pics I could find. I did a Gambino Notch, which is killer BTW, de-arched leafs and 4 inch blocks. I'd also like to run bags eventually, but I'll run this setup first. It sits pretty low this way. I'll get some better pics when I get my car back.

Dont forget the extra parts you gotta keep in the trunk when they fail or leak or blow a bag. haha. Keep it simple and functional. My running boards on my 52 f-1 will be about 4 -6 inches off the ground. Just enough to clear my driveway and speed bumps. FUNCTIONAL and Low All the Time. I am not one for bags! Anti Bag Group.. haha

There is not need for bags. If you don't want them then don't use them. I like how you tell people you don't want to do something and they try to talk you into it anyways...

Rusk know what he is talking about. He did a killer job on his chevy. Bags, leafs, it doesn't matter. All the notches will be the same.

Yeah its funny how people have been driving lowered cars for decades but now you have to have run bags. I have aready done my frame, and put my springs in, My rearend is done but I have to put my shocks on and then do my tunnel and my floor. The reason for this post was to see what others were doing.

the advantage of having bags is the raising of the car going in and out of drivways when i was 15 i actualy got my car stuck in a drive way i had to go get a floor jack to move it!
any ways if i was to do a lowered leaf spring car that was mine i think i would re locte the leaf springs and hangers so i didnt have to use blocks or remove leafs you would have a better ride quality and every thing WONT be hanging below the scrub line in the rear. since you have dearched springs and our going to an open drive may be think about the relocation method you can run the springs in board?

Heres mine 54 150 2-door with Gambino C-Notch and with bags and tri-angulated 10 bolt rear end. The frame will be about 3/4" to 1" off the ground in the center. Also has G front clip.
