Just found out about the forum and I hope we can all help each other out a little bit. You guys really seem to know your stuff. I'm working on a 1946 Chrysler Windsor and being that I have no experience with cars of this era, it's been rather slow and tedious. Maybe some of you guys can answer some questions I have! Thanks for having me! I'm trying to remove the flathead 6 and fluid-drive tranny at the moment. I really could use some help to figure out the best way to go about it. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanx
Thanks man! I hope no one thinks I'm rude for not telling a little bit about myself before asking for help... I'm new, I wasn't thinking. Except about how to keep making progress on that car! It's been eating me up. Anyways, I live in Boerne, TX and am originally from Louisville, KY. I've always been into cars and have owned a couple motorcycles as well. Anything that goes fast, count me in. My current project car is a 1946 Chrysler Windsor that was given to my wife and I as a wedding gift. Pretty sweet, huh? Basically we want to keep it looking relatively stock, but upgrade the engine, drivetrain, brakes, etc. to make it a nice street rod. I've got my eyes on a Mopar 318 that is sitting at my local engine builders shop and am also in the process of building a SBC 400 (bored .040 over). I'm just not sure what to do with the 400. I was going to put it in the Chrysler, but the idea of putting a Chevy engine in my classic Chrysler kinda bugs me. Anyways, there are some pics of my ride attached so feel free to drop me a line! Thanks guys, glad to be here.
Welcome from Denton! If you need ideas, I highly recommend going to the Lonestar Roundup in Austin this coming April. That is by far the best show I have ever been too, family friendly and loads of fun (especially the night time cruising on Congress Avenue!!!). Good luck with the Chrysler, beautiful car. And by the way, I agree with putting a mopar in a mopar! Too bad you can't find a poly engine!
welcome to the HAMB, I'd use the 318 in your Chrysler it would be more dependable than the sbc and would look like it belonged there. Hank from Pennsylvania
