Hot Rods Just a Christmas thought??

  1. This goes out to all those "goldchainers" "traditional" people on here that think everything should go there way on how your car looks.

Back in the day when the real hot rods were being built 30's-70's per say. What sites did everyone go to to find out what they were supposed to use for parts? My opinion of a true "HOTROD" is something that was built for fun from whatever parts looked good and was available for use.

So I guess Gene Winfield, George Barris, Ed Roth, Bill Hines and all the other builders out there from the old days are outcast and should NOT be on this site---because they did things different. Unlike alot of people around here that are just copying ideas and cars that were popular back in the day.

Hotrodding is about building something fun and going out to shows and meeting new people. I had got out of cars for afew years because they were not fun anymore. You had to babysit your vehicle, alot of the shows are fixed for the winners. When we built my, as I like to call it "Rat Rod" I wanted it for fun only. I had been there done that with show stuff before. It isn't worth it, to much work to enjoy the show and meet people.

I finally got my big brother to think this way. Has has had such great fun with his car now after going a different direction than planed. We have met alot of wonderful people this year.

I have been to numorous shows over the years, most are alright. But if you want a good time go to the good shows like Greaserama, Hunnert Car Pileup and shows like that. The people are down to earth, unlike some people on here that live for Goodguys type shows.

If somebody wants to try something new let them. Who cares, just might be that next idea that you want to copy.

Sorry to vent, but there seems to be quite afew guys on here that don't seem to know where hottrodding came from! (we'll here from them shortly)

If you don't like the way my paint isn't shiny, or that my carbs are not plated or that my bumpers are not TRIPLE chrome plated Go drink your $5.00 cup of Star Bucks coffee over there and keep your opinion to yourself.
Oh, and if you say to me" Know what I would do if I were you?"
I'm going to choke you with your your d*mn gold chain!!!

  10. Yea back in the fifties we got most of our parts in junkyards and most of the tires were bald you worked on your car outside and slept in them when you had enough for the day. We went to the local foundry to find useable trannys late at nite when no guard on duty. Got most of our ideas from Hot Rod magazine, those were great times. To all a Merry Christmas and a better New Year, Hank

  11. No, there was nothing to do with Christmas in your thread. But there does seems to be an underlying sentiment of some folks to justify thier exhistance. You were right about the Hunnert being a blast.

    Merry Christmas.

  12. Not a thing! Just most will be sitting around the computer the next couple days.

I enjoy this site and highly recommend it. But the more and more i'm on here the more I see it starting to go down hill. Everybody thinks there ideas better than the next guy. Who cares go have fun with what you want to build!

I dont get it, gold chainers are the ones who have the chrome mustang II frontends with thier kandy paint and 20" boyd coddington rims. Arnt the traditonalist the ones who say thier flatblack 32 isnt a ratrod, it was just built period correct and they isnt radial whitewalls arnt the way to go...

Heres an idea, who ever doesnt like my build. shove it. and dont be worried about it, Its mine, ill be the one driving it to white castle to get a crave case.

Now lets all stop debating this and go back to building our own HotRods..haha

  14. opinions are like assholes.

    fyi.

i could shit in a box and call it traditional...it'd be just as traditional as a spiderweb grille insert.

    merry christmas.

if someone likes your car, they'll tell you.
if someone doesn't like your car, they'll tell you.
opinions have been around forever....... even back in the days you refer to.
your "Christmas" sermon doesn't change any of that
and it wont change some peoples opinion of your car and taste.

either way, it's just all man drama-- so why let it bother you?

Uh, back in "the day", the internet didn't exist. So no "sites" to go to, I think most of us read the magazines and went to the drive-in.......

So I guess the drive-in was the "site".

I live for the GG Clumbus show every July. Does that make me a bad person? I'd rather go to a GG show that has a huge variety of cars, styles, lifestyles-- than go to one show that caters to only one category. Life is all about variety isn't it???

  28. you have been on here since 07 and you see it going down hill? fuck off your pissed because your car sucks and people on here told you it sucks.
