Hey guys, received the new roof / body wood kit yesterday.

Question, should I treat the wood with anything prior to the install?
Also thinking of dynamat prior to the install, think its a waste?

I am planning on filling the roof.
    Thanks!

  3. I'm getting ready to do the same on my A truck. Are you going to install the wood and then sheet over it?

I was thinking of putting the dynamat on the metal, and then installing the wood.
Mainly wondering about the wood though.
Think I should treat with Thompsons or some kind of sealant?
I dont think it would hurt?

I wouldn't get too crazy with the wood but I would put something on it. You can get rattle can wood stain has is pretty high quality and will keep your hands clean at the local hardware store. I used this stuff on my roadster's wood.

If you want it to look purty you can stain it. Brush on three coats of polyurethane to waterproof it. I've used some of the waterbased polyurethane stuff and it works okay and is easy to clean up. Oh yea, you can get it in satin if glossy is not your style...

Ford used some kind of wood preservative that ends up being dark grey after 60-80 years.
