Here's a neat Christmas story about a friend of mine that helped to bring one of his friends the best Christmas present he's ever gotten. My friend, Dave, owns a restoration shop in Savannah, Ga. and his friend, Mike owns a '68 Camaro that Dave's been working on over the past 6 or 7 years as Mike had the funds available. Well, Mike hasn't been able to put much into his car for that last few years due to a number of reasons. Right now, two of Mike's seven kids have severe medical issues, and his grand daughter was recently born blind, plus there are other pressing family issues and yet Mike just has this awesome attitude about life and he's such an inspiration to SO many folks. Anyhow, with all that's been gong on in Mike and Karen's life, a month and a half ago, Dave decided to get Mike's Camaro painted for him by Christmas. Everyone he mentioned it to wanted to get in on the project. I own a Restoration shop also, so I took both doors and repaired all the rust and primed them, another friend of Dave's bought the cowl hood, another one bought something else, the paint store donated materials, and altogether 23 people donated over 750 hours to get the car into the paint booth! Dave walked out of the booth at 7:30 this morning and got an hour of sleep, then went back into the shop and started getting things ready for the "reveal". Around lunchtime, he called Karen to bring Mike over to the shop... said he had something to show them. Dave said that when they got to the shop, Mike was so over-whelmed by it that he couldn't even speak! He was absolutely blown away at what had been done for him. Dave said that after they left, Mike called him back and still didn't have the words to express how thankful he was. Anyhow, I'm thrilled to have had a small part in it, and just thought I'd share a pretty neat story about Christmas, 2008. MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!
