Go for it Dane, I like when people go to the edge. After much thought (and beer), I ended up only going 2 1/2 on mine as I went though the hood and didn't want it to look sqashed. These trucks just love to be cut.

  6. geck054 said it right on - Go for it Dane! My '50 cab is sectioned 7 inches, chopped 7 inches, and I was going to channel it 7 inches! I have not done the channel part yet. This is due to the problem I have of not being able to fit into the cab! I calculated that 7, 7, and 7 would be really COOL, like winning at a casino or having a winning lotto ticket. The cab sure looks nice with the radical chop, sectioned, installed doors, but I just might have to install the bomber seats in the bed area, and drive from behind the cab.

Rock and Roll Dane! Thats cool vision and huevos grande! Keep up the cuttin and taking pics!

I certainly don't have the balls to try that, especially on a Suburban like mine. I had a hard enough time keeping the stock stuff aligned up...........

    my hats off to ya........

Make sure you use the correct radiator support, as they're different between Chevy and GMC. I don't remember how they're different, something about radiator positioning.

This is why I was asking about the Kopper Kart rear fenders.

I have been thinking about changing the plan on the truck a little.
More Kustom like the R&C Dream Truck and Roy Delaney '47.
Have a little mix of Gene Winfields shop truck in it too.

Shorter rear fenders look better I think.

  21. I just realized that my photo's didn't post. I chose the 5 1/2 section because thats the distance from the bottom of the fenders to the bottom of the doors. I left the doors and fenders full length. then channeled the cab down 5 1/2 inches the line them up. I'm running 6 foot utility boxes (it's just a shop truck) I had to stretch the cab or shorten the frame.

Stock Rear fenders bobbed off looks better.

Kopper Kart style bed does not flow with the cab as expected.

tons of respect for what youre doing! i hate to hear all the nay saying all the time, i get too much of it with my projects. when i started my '48 4100 project last year everyone told me i couldnt do it. even my street rod building father, and i did it in three months! same with my '54 ('52) 4100, but its coming along nicely i think... heres some pics.

  24. It's all fun, how can you hurt an old beat up truck!!! lol
if it weren't for trying something we'd all be the same.
it is possible to screw one up (in my opinion which doesn't mean much)

I personally don't care for short fenders on a tall truck

I built this one, wut do you need to know. There was no plan, first we chopped it and it didnt look right so without any gameplan and some motavation from Adolf Coors, out came the sawz all! I think the section was 4"-5" to give it a rake. when I get home tonight I will post some pics of where and how we cut it
