I've got an issue with the revised motor mounts on my roadster...

With the my pinched frame, the biscuit mounts stick out past the rail about 1/2"...

Could I get away with replacing the biscuits with poly sway bar bushings and a 3/8" or so grade 8 bolt instead of that big bolt in the flatty mounts?

A friend just introduced me to a cool idea for these mounts; hockey pucks. No kidding, they are perfect and are cheap too.

Yes. I've got similar mounts on a race car that worked great. The secret is to make sure that you've got washers (like the ones in the poly bushing pic) that completely cover the top of the bushing. Also, don't cut them down, leave them full hight. Also, don't torque them down too much. Just enough so they're slightly compressed and use a lock nut.

You know those bushings also come in black.

    Thanks 'Beat!

Actually I was hoping to find some day-glo orange ones from energy suspension... I think that'll compliment the traditional theme nicely. :D:D:D

To be honest, my first thought was to go with Skateboard bushings, but I thought they might not be designed to handle as much weight.

Good to hear they're holding up in a racing application.

Just curious, if your frame is pinched that much won't you have trouble with steering box and header fitment?

I have been using hockey pucks for 12 years now on my car.

Do you use large washers with the hockey pucks? I haven't seen how they would work, it seems they would need thick washers top and bottom? Do you have a pic of yours?

I went to Napa and got a sway bar end-link kit for a 70 'Vette...

Here's what I came up with.

The bushings are solid rubber, not poly... But I think they'll hold up to the weight. If not, I'll spring for the poly ones later.

As long as they are capable of holding the weight and isolating the vibration, the job of motor supports, it doesn't matter if they're made of pressure-molded dog****.

Skateboard bushings are WAY too small and too soft for that application. And rubber bushings that small are too soft. If you're going to use bushings from a swaybar endlink, use poly - not rubber.
