Mart Higginbotham smokes the tires with his "Drag-On" Vega funny car in a run against Tom Hoover in the "White Bear Dodge" funny car.

Thank you so much for the pics. Reminds me why I don't go to the NHRA races any more.

Gotta love the ingenuity and all the different looks to the cars. Unlike the "spec" racing today!

Cool pictures. Thanks. I work right next the field were the strip was and everyday I have to watch the near by shopping mall creep closer to where it was. It is nice to see it back in its glory days. Wish I was older to have seen it in person.

very cool, i grew up at that strip. Makes me sick that they close it and it sits for 20 years then the put up another strip mall.

    Thanks

Very sad. I just learned that another track I visited in 1970 or 1971 closed in 1992 to make room for housing development.

I think viewing these pictures makes some of us feel good and bad at the time.

The yellow Bantam altered was the ex Pure Hell of Guasco and Emery. They sold the wreckage to this guy whose name escapes me at the moment. It was run on gas by that time.

Many thanks for the great pics. I spent many years with AHRA and Fremont has provided some of the top memorable events.

Awesome pictures! Trips to Fremont are some of my fondest memories. The Sat nite jet car drags were unbelievable. I am proud to say that I did race my moms Bel-Air on Wed nights at Fremont.

Was it the same Outcast as once campainged by Ron Vaught? He ran a RED Chevy jr fueler as early as 1969. It was a beautiful car.
