    Jacin,
on Derek McCuistion's car I ran a cable from the switch back to the "push bar" which doubled as the shroud line mount for the chute. I used one of the fuel car type cables as they are much more flexible than the Morse stuff and mounted the cable just inside the body with the end sticking out and attached that to a lever. I also ran a second cable to the dash so that the driver can shut it off as well.
This photo does not show it very well but you can just make it out--the lever is just below the upper left wheelie bar tube.

I found this Chassis Research K-88 on Long Island NY. It was missing engine and transmission, otherwise nearly complete. Sorry but I have no history about it, maybe You can help? Frame has blue metalflake, a lot of CR parts on it like steering, front end, wire wheels, rear axle etz. Kidneybean wheels with M & H Dragmaster slicks with WW on inside. Moon gaspedal, Eelco tank. I will be really lucky to get some information.

Leave it to ROOMAN to hit the nail on the head!!! Roo - is that a PULL deal or a PUSH deal???

I was wondering HOW CLOSE mounted to the chutes would be safe. I have a couple inches beneath the chutes with some dead space - I was figuring I could put the tail light and rear switch there - I suppose worst case I could mount it lower as you show -and I only say "worst" case beacause I am trying to avoid punching holes in the tinwork - it's hard enough to remove the tail as it is. What say you????

How about this one. Had a nice talk with Dave Crane the other day about it. Turns out it's a home built car. I'm going to build a Chassis Research frame & use the parts off this one.

I guess a picture of 'old bones' would fit in well here. I have just a few pixs of it, i took them right after making the plug wires and the owner was picking it up. Better pix are in Rod & Kulture issue #13.

Its a nailhead Buick, no real clue as to size but i think small because of the injector size. Love the headers.

At first I thought it was a 215 due to the color of the block and heads.. but then I saw the mag was in the back.

    Up for Showrail.

  12. We spent Christmas visiting family AND my Fiat Comp Coupe up in PA. Santa couldn't have done any better than EJ Kowalski has done putting this rail back together to fit my vision. It started out as a 1969 Woody Gilmore chassis with a big block Chevy and a '23 modified roadster body. The Rod 'n Race body now sits behind a 4 bolt main 355 SBC with a Crower cam, Carrillo rods, forged pistons, Weiand 6:71, Hilborn 4-port, finned Moon timing cover, all attached to a shorty Glide and a 8 3/4 Mopar rear with custom axles, new 8" Halibrands with M&H 9" slicks.
I've wanted a Fiat comp coupe since I first saw the original white Pacers Auto and Fred Zipp's Custom Auto cars in 1961. 47 years later, it looks like the project is well on it's way for a Spring '09 blast down the quarter mile.

My thanks to Ed & EJ Kowalski for bringing my vision to reality.

    Looks really nice Rick

  18. The nose is a fiberglass chunk from the Rod 'n Race Funny Fiat stretched nose. EJ did the aluminum one piece front body and the 2 side pieces under the headers. I'm really happy with the way everything blends together from nose to tail.

This is the latest I have been working on. I call it " THE 1959 KING". My own design , based on early dragster styling. You know like how cars were before Kent Fuller stepped into the picture.

Something build out of mild steel, mig welded together and basic design. It uses early Ford front axle and spring. A dragster that I will offer for sale cheeper than the 4130 Moly/TIG welded 1963 style cars that I am use to doing. It is 88"wb. Perfect car for a flattie or multicarbed nailhead!

  23. That's very cool Brian. Very Chassis Researchish but w/o the big lower frame tube.

  24. Rich how did you mount the body?

Come on Brian, let's see some more pic's :D

  26. There are a number of Dzus fasteners. Several at the motor plate, some on the inner wall of the wheel tubs and two at the lower rear on triangulated tubes off the rear of the frame. We added 1/2 round fiberglass tubes to the inside of the body plus have braces along the flat sheet that filled in the original wheel openings.

This is a sample of what I call "The Legal KING". This is a car I built for fellow HAMBer Thrillbilly. It is a legal 150" car. He is a metal shaper and is building a over the head chute tail body for it as we speak.

Thank You. It has 6 degrees of dump. I love dump. My car has 8. Mine is direct drive. Thrillbillys is shorty glide. So the motor is out further. So has less dump. Or the crankshaft would be on the ground. I dont have more pics of my boys altered. But it is just a go cart 5 horse brigs. It doesnt run yet. But is a little further along than in the photos. He is on my ass about finishing it.
