Anyone have any pics of these things racing from "back in the day"? Seems like all I can find is bracket car pictures. Like to see something along the lines of an AFX or even a "gasser" (sorry to help wear out the term) if they did anything like that back then. Thanks.

I know where a pretty clean red '61 Valiant 2dr Sedan is sitting. I was thinking I'd get it and throw my straight axle under it but decided against it after seeing how butt ugly it is.

AND IT WAS RUN IN 1962 THEY CALLED IT THE SNIPER YEAH IT HAS A NEWER SCOOP ,BUT HELL MAN A 62 VALIANT RUNNING A GAS IN 62??IS N'T THE SAME????
Virgil Exner. That car got his ass fired, no shit. Well, the Valiant and a lot of other early-60s Chrysler monstrosities. No offense to the dude with the lavender straight-axle '61 Pioneer wagon; that thing is awesome!
Damn, I was gonna say that we have a '62 Valiant and that pic up there is not a '62. The Mr. has toyed with the idea of turning it into a gasser. I say that if it is fine the way it is, he shouldn't screw with it. But he always has to have another project. Oh and if I get a chance I'll get you a pic of our V-nut.
I got a real nice B+W but cant figure out how to convert it from megabyte to j-peg........computers suck!!!! The picture is circa 1970 and the guy who drove it now wrenches on a 63 pontiac, blown ,doorslammer! old habits are hard to kick!

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah...that's where the neatness lies. Don't tell me a Henry J is a good looking car before you stick a blower and straight axle in it. The wife has a Valiant and I think she's just about lost interest. It'll give me something to do until I can afford to do what I want. And the rear wheelwells are radiused from the factory as a bonus!
IMHO i think that the 61 Valiant was a wild little beast .....tons of potential,as for lots of my cars i always say"it's so ugly ...it's almost cool" Fill Your Boots, screw what everyone else thinks!!
HEY Mike .........and it was a more door ta boot!!!! This car is one of my stronger childhood(almost 20 then) LOL memories, this and a 57 ford called the "Gunfighter"..........wish i had pics of it!!!!
Those are great. All I've ever seen is a pic of a lime green '62 with a slant 6 that ran 13s. I knew someone had to have stuck something ridiculous in one back then. Shit, they weigh almost nothing. I'm sorta leaning towards a big-assed (flamedabone gave me this affliction) PONTIAC with fenderwell headers. If I can make it ridiculous enough so that she won't drive it...hmmmm. Thanks for the pics!
if you were still up this way I know where theres one of them ugly ass things (a fury though) that runs for $500 at the most.....he can't give the damn thing away though....
LOL.....Rev where did ya find that pic? I remember sitting in front of the tower handing out ET slips and seeing that thing. I thought it was ugly then, I'm still right!
awwww c'mon rocket .............you know ya like it!! One of these days.i'm gonna figure out this scanner thingy and show these guy's JUS where we attemted to grow up at!!! Personally as far as a Gasser goes.....................hey the uglier the better!!
I will be actually turning mine into a Super stock/Modified production car. I really wanted to find a 413 or a 440(with early heads)for it but I wa given a good 318 tha I'll rebuild and make it look like a '64 273 and just tell people it was an old test Mule for Plymouth. -Jesse
Anybody have a '61 or '62 Valiant or Lancer for sale ?? You either love 'em or hate 'em. Myself, I love those cars. If anyone knows where I could find a nice rust-free one, let me know. Thanks.
