Hi. I´m thinking of buying a Chrysler New Yorker -55 that is in need for some TLC. I would like to rebuilt those ugly rear lights, and make some better ones, does anyone have any ideas for that? Posting a picture of the car. Regards Kimmen

Thanx for the picks and ideas, were looking at your old car yesterday with your brother. I was thinking of using the backup lenses for rear lights, and thinking of get some nice tailfins on it?? Don´t know if i´m on deep water there?
you might look at the 'lesser' models they had some tailights that were more modest. Or look at the 56 Chrysler they had some cool fins on those. 56 Chrylser because of the grill and the fins are probably one of my favorite.
Some '56 quarters would look nice, although if that were my car I'd be more worried about swapping out those ugly rims. They look like something that would come on a cattle trailer.
There is nothing wrong with those tail lights. Its that ugly chrome around them. Remove the chrome from the trim and lead them in and paint. Simple and will completely change the look. JB
I agree and would try this first - just get some cardboard /tape and fill in the top of the chrome - cover it completely - make a tail fin out of it, leaving only a 1" chrome reveal at the edge. See if you like it - it gives more integrated lines, not the stick-up taillights, and is reversable. Fins came a couple of years later, it would update the look a little too. (paint the cardboard black and use black duct tape)
Stock 56 Chevy taillight bezels filled with smooth Lee lenses would look good if they still make them.
