Now thats what you would think, but here traditional means copying, copying what would been done back then but say switch the red wheels out for black ones etc.. But it seems if you actually do wanna be different it's only ok to do so if you call it a bonneville car and that makes it ok as long as it got a hood or something like that... Anyway I like but I think since it's still a truck it needs a box. The sound it makes it just pure awesome.
new screen saver on those engine shots. what carbs are you running? they look like SU's but the piston dome is too short. are those Mikuni motorcycle carbs?
see people forget that a lot of rods were built out of **** left over after the war. Fighting a world war leaves a lot of surplus aircraft and other parts left around. There were no catalogs then or internet, you built with what you found. need some steel, find something and cut it out, need a switch find a s**** car or airplane and there you go, there was no radio shack. This car is built exactly how someone back then might have built it. look at the prop hub, it's from a stude. I mean thats hot rodding. I may be younger, well not that much younger, but I have heard many stories from my dad and uncles about how they used to build rods back in the 50's and how they were too poor to store buy anything. have heard many stories of rods built that way from old timers. This is the way they would have built em. hahah thats also one of the biggest engines i've seen in a rod in a long time.
Ya, I saw many of them (clones) down at Pleasanton, some said, "mine rod is different from yours", how so, "I have 28 pounds of air in my tires", well, I have my radio tuned to a different station!" I think maybe we have forgotten what the prime directive is..... Build what you want, & show it to others for the Owwwwwww's and Ahhhhhhhhhhh's, but we all must remember, life is too damn short... "like we used to say in motorcycle racing"......... "run what ya brung!" After all, all the trophys you have ever won...... it still take $4.95 to buy yourself a cup of coffee at Starbucks
i'm building my car to drive to the shows, I don't care much about the trophys, I wouldn't mind a homemade one, but i'm building something out of the box too.
Neat concept truck. Not something I'd want to drive around in every day but glad you guys built it and thanks for showing it. It turned out very nice.
I'd rather look at the RUNAMUCKA than a mutha****a in justanutha plainvanilla deuce. Tradition sometimes has more to do with history and honoring the guys who made the history than it does building a "period correct" 32 Ford. The old Allison and Merlin V-12 aircraft engines were huge, and these guys used something that is as close an approximation to one as they could find. Showboat, If I ever get a chance to come to your neck of the woods can I take Kevin Lee's tour and hang out? I'd LOVE to take a ride in that thing.
I have added another video to the YOUTUBE web site, If you liked any of the others you will like this one too, We took the RUNAMUCKA out for a p*** down the runway at the Aurora Airport. Turn up your volume and enjoy! It's called RUNAMUCKA Video #6 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmKdHvz_-j8 THIS IS THE MASTER LINK TO LINK TO ALL 7 VIDEOS: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=RUNAMUCKA&search_type=&aq=f
see i think what i like most about all of this is, look at all of thought put into this and look at how fun you guys have had doing it. just in the videos it sounds like your having a blast.
Thank you for building this. My father served with the Army Air Corps in China. He would have loved it. A nice tribute to all who served.
That is a really cool motor! The car isn't really my flavor but I understand it's a theme car and all that. I wish it had a little meaner stance.
