i live in Canada so it may not help me sending an email, but i have had this thought, how much money does this program have?, if everyone who had a japanese junker sitting around turn it in would the program run out of money before to many American cars get turned in, just a thought, times are tough and what a waste of money, i think the US goverment should use the money to buy new cars and give them away.

Remember to contact your representative or Senator rather than Pelosi- unless she is your Congressional rep in the House, it's a bit like pissing in the wind because she's not accountable to you. I've talked to a couple of acquaintances with a nose for politics and it appears that support for this measure (and the whole economic stimulus bill) is fairly evenly split between Pelosi and Co. (in support) and the GOP (against), so to have the most impact one might endeavor to change the minds of any Democratic representatives in their state because that's what's needed to block the passage of this measure. Unfortunately, it's probably going to be buried in a big economic stimulus package. Make sure to mention all the potential job losses in the specialty automotive industry due to lack of parts, projects, etc. because that's what they are (supposed to be) worried about.

 

Just an update, the government bill that includes a "$4500.00 for your clunker" provision went before the house and senate on Tuesday. It cannot hurt for anyone to contact their representative and voice an opinion.

 

my letter turn in your old cars????????????????????what??????so it will help to buy new IDONT LIKE NEW THINGS I AM 44 AND DONT CARE ABOUT THE NEW OR NEWER CARS THEY ARE CRAP.....I dont get it or maybe its you that dont get it, you live in your pretend little worlds where everything is marshmallows and colorful pretty blue skies and everyone has the same idea, well it aint that way, leave the old car alone....... leave the people that drive them alone........even if I were rich I WOULD STILL WANT MY OLD CARS.................................go save some trees on some mountain top, go plant more flowers in some park just leave the old cars alone
