New Canadian with a 61 Ford Fairlane/Galaxie

Discussion in 'New to the H.A.M.B.? Introduce yourself here!' started by Rodneys Rods, Jan 3, 2009.

  1. Hello fellow gear heads!
Obviously I am new here, but not new to the world of motivating old sheet metal to go fast. As a get to know me thing, I presently have a 41 Ford Coupe Flathead powered flamed 50's style Rod almost finished. (Again) and 3 Henry J bodies and a Model A 2dr Sedan all waiting for some love. I need a 51 Henry J grille if you have one in the way...

I had the pleasure of surviving a stroke recently which has given me time off work and a chance to "relax and take it easy" at my uncles shop where we are building a 2 door post 61 Fairlane (full size ford with less trim and weight than a galaxie) drag car on a real tight budget. I can't think of a better way recover;)

We are running into a few problems you experts could help with.
I would appreciate feedback on the following issues:
    1) Need some Axles for this in a 31 spline 9 inch. 27.5 inches long on drivers side and 31.75 on passenger side. Long means from end of spline to inside of hub.
2)Everyone tells me the leaf spring bushings and front end bushings and tie rods are obsolete, impossible to find etc. I'll bet you guys know better.
    3) Lastly, if you have 429/460 intakes and a 800 cfm double pumper holley carb it would slip nicely into the project.

Happy new year and thanks in advance for the feedback.
