I took a trip out to 5WBOMBER's house last weekend to get my axle dropped and i just wanted to share these pics with you guys. I had a 5 inch Magnum drop axle on the front of my coupe to get it as low as I could without extensive frame modifications in the front. Well, he saw it and kept giving me **** for it cause he said it didnt look right on my coupe. So, he told me to swing by his shop and hed give me a smokin deal on a drop axle if i helped him do it. Well, heres the final product. I cant be happier with the way it turned out. We had to straighten it too cause it had seen some rough times in the past. That was no problem.

If you need your axle dropped, hit 5WBOMBER up and hell get you squared away.

Heres some "side-by-side" pics of Jordans axle next to the Magnum axle. We set up the jig to drop the axle 3.5 inches and the Magnum is a 5 inch drop axle. I measured it and there was a 1 inch difference between the two. Im SOOOO glad i went with an original axle on this project. Anybody need a never-ran Magnum axle?:D:D

On the magnum axle, what are those extra holes near the spring perch holes for? Shock mount?

This a good illustration of what a dropped axle measurement really means. I've said many times here and elsewhere that the term has lost it's meaning since almost no one under the age of 50 knows that the drop is measured from the original axle type.
In other words the true term is "dropped over stock". I would guess that the difference in this case being so different is that the Magnum is essentially an "invented" axle rather than a dropped version of any given stock Ford axle, and since more drop sells...well.

A more pure illustration would be a set of photos showing a stock and a 3" drop on all the Ford axle types, 28-31, 32, 33-36, 37-41 and 42-48, with maybe the 42-47 Pickups thrown in to complete the picture. Then a comparison set showing only the ends of the dropped axles from perch/axle bolt hole to kingpin boss together on a vertical shot. This would illustrate the fact that some axles cannot be dropped as much as others.

Rod and Custom Magazine did exactly that in the 90s but I can't find the article.
