Anyone ever start a project, then have a set of twins in addition to the two toddlers you already have,, you start a new job working in an industry that mandates 7 day work weeks, and no time off? Then, after a couple of years, you finally get enough time to turn the key for the first time after of peicemealing 15 minutes here and there in the garage,, only to see that you haven't touched your car in so long that the perfect looking engine, that has been waiting restlessly,,,, is now frozen from sitting so long. What did you get done today?
i've got 3 buildings full of them.i nearly went broke buying batteries.most are locked up,some i get lucky with and marvel mystery oil frees them right up.
5 years ago, started my job, only 5 days a week, but odd hours and ever changing schedule. Met wife there, she was a friend of a co worker. She had a gastric byp***, the rapid weight loss makes a woman very fertile. Eloped when she got pregnant, had twins. She had a non cancer thyroid tumor, removed after the twins were born. She got pregnant again, got car running, she got another tumor, this time cancer. Had kid, then tumor, thyroid and most of the stuff from the left side of her neck got removed. She started nursing school and we moved in with the inlaws. My car broke a couple of months ago, she just graduated, and I still have no time to work on it. Haven't even started the other projects.....
I've got a '32 5w that I bought in 1973. I've driven it 5 blocks since then. Life got in the way and it sits in the back of the shop..............waiting. I've built about a dozen cars since but just can't seem to get that one on the front burner. Frank
Yes I have. If you want to see full story search threads Ive started. Bought 5 window 32 4 years ago, Had twins 3 years ago, And Ive got three teenagers, changed job about 4 times, So I feel your pain. Coupes back on track though....JOHN
Had a decent paying job, purchased my 40 while buying new house. One year later lost decent paying job(had to quit, bumped out, long story), got a job a little less money. 1 1/2 years later lost that job(big lay off). Got another job, pay ****s but the work is plenty. In the mean time I was trying to clean stuff up in my garage just to get my toolbox in it, moved more stuff and got the 40 in it, finally this year got it 97% cleaned out(bro-in-laws stuff). I built my off topic car back in the 90's mainly with bank loans and credit cards, some of which I'm still paying. I vowed this time around no cards or loans, I'm going to build this thing CASH ONLY and on a real tight budget!!!! I planned on using the money from my of topic car to fund my garage and build but life got in the way and it had to be spent for septic system in my other house, dammit. later shawn
Ohhhh man, I've got a car like that in the garage right now. It's got a brand new build on the motor. But has sat, for about 15 years. I'm hoping this thread isn't a premonition.
You need a TV in your bedroom or a vasectomy. Thats a lot of little boogers runnin around. Yes got 2 little ones have to hustle 2 hard to make money, and spend quality time with my family and leaves little time for the car. That's what makes that time even better.
Toby great to see your still playing with cars...well kids I mean that is...a stuck engine? ****ing ****s....by the way what is the project?
Not me but my brother. It took 22 years to get his '34 P.U. done. House, job, kids, cabin, divorce; all that stuff. His motor sat over 20 years on a stand, never started after a rebuild. It fired on the first crank and has been going stong for about 15 years now. He did make sure to roll it over a little about once a month while it was on the stand. As fun and important this car stuff is, family is first!
