Okay ? what if thar were SB chevy timeing belts
it may seem unuseual.. that.. i would ask this but is thar a timing belt
or conversion system that would do away with the cam chain in favor of a dry air rubber cogged belt ... one that would fit behide a v8s of v 6 es water pump(extended?) and provide a backing plat that fit behind the top cog and had a seal or trust plate with machined cog too ,and a bolt on belt idler to
cinch the belt.. or squash fit tolerance?point in mind is !that would be differant .. no i havnt been
suscribing to car magozines so i dont know if such a setup exists ? but
it seems to be in the pheasible to fabricate bracket if not a lot less reliable than chain (right?) think about it now! one thing a thust plate could use the backing plate seal could be on cog boses! yee-haww

thanks i checked out the jesel unit pretty good pics no ideas about possible oem cog
matches here yet huh ? you know like say one cog presumably taken from a ....say x model ? ford or/ vega somthing ..lol and of course were talking even cog teeth 2-1 no matter sooo" for the inventer idiot who builds his own for 40 dollars lol" plus thare the steel lovers idium (steels better then cast) lol"
and used parts or longer cams that might suit oem parts subs***utions? any real comments by someone who might take this around the block
just for a hypothetical question what if the cam thrust were set on the rear with a kit designed to fit into the rear welch area somthing like a stainless bolt and washer some locktight and a revesed welsh plug or cast plug stud through cover second cover over that ? one differant idea on this lots of room behind the flex plate i know jezel has a rear cam lock kit? lol and by the way atempt too be consturctive if you can no clothsline addicts pleeezzzz no spelling bee ladeeezzz please

Why worry about adapting this and that? Get an industrial catalog (such as MSC or McMaster-Carr) and order up some timing belt pulleys. Or. go to the junkyard and do some measuring.

Oh, and learn to put together a sentence so the rest of us can figure out what you're saying! Hell, I ain't even worried about the spelling, just make a sentence or two!

me thinks we miss the point me thinks anouther point comes to mind
that point is this "medeocre abilitys are supported by big mouths little brains and lmited imagination ...if bill gates started in a garage you could get stared in an outhouse with all that fertilizer i suggest you add a pint
of jb weld and mix it so you can manufactor the worlds first organic
clutch then stick that were the chicken dont moonlight caprendah"?
as for the ones(most) interested in my subject" of insitefully rendering a fabricated belt drive to replace the oem gears ? well dont be dismayed
its a reasonably sound idea that could be engineered by a capible
mecanic /welder or basic metal fab expieriance
For number 1 i suggest ( undiscouraged) a potential thrust lockplate
could be fabricated or possibly borrowed from a 6 cyl inline chevrolet
and i see no reason it couldnt be secured to the front of the block between the stock cam and a potential mateing cam cog arrangement
or what about those boys who grind the custom cams could they get
a cam billet that was somehow longer on the front cam journal if
so you have a part that can be machined to fit almost any oem
belt cog and tighenting from a centerbolt and 1 drill dowel
dog .. i thought this morning anouther obviose obstickle would
be the ceterline between the two cogs as objects of belt alignment
if thar were a belt drive whether chrysler or even porsche
that had that centerline distance you would have a stock belt
match to test with some people do not realize that all cams
from almost any car engine have the 2 too 1 ratio for drive
but what im suggesting .. is that the easy most idea that the
prefabed retale jezell gears proubably only fit the jezel gears
anyways my ideas are just that ideas they dont cost nuthin
and i dont care what they look like on paper", someone here will
proubably at least think about what it would take .
like welding a seal boss out of some steel pan to the front of a thrust
plate or something also drilling a small hole behind the seal back into
the block area (pressure) might be cool
flycutting two small pads to put the thrustplate screws holes or
not? im saying could !so ...hold your hats on somebodys on the
dont wagon and cant fall off" lol ..end of sentense dot capital i spell talk
    dat the waey"

Me thinks you can go **** yerself with talk like that! Two years ago an FNG woulda been drummed out the door for **** like that! oh yeah, look out, my keyboard is one bad mother............!

Anyway, lots of fab this and adapt that when the pieces are off the shelf from an industrial supplier.........you're probably gonna have to source your belt from them anyway. I'm not aware of an OEM automotive belt that is that short. Look into a Gated *TD series belt and the appropriate pulleys.

thar is one flaw with this and it is that the number of teeth on the gears i think vary
by some equation to centerline to center length .so i need a math expert to
calculate outherwise yess the belt would have to be lenth to cog number specific
    wouldnt it ?

  18. Personally, I don't care about the correctness of language, in fact in english there are really no rules or laws, just a few guidelines that most people follow when writing. The guidelines tend to help communicate ideas, and so long as the meaning is conveyed, I don't see a reason to nit pick about any rules that may or may not have been broken.

Skilled writers might tend to dispense with certain rules in order to better convey the meaning in their writing. They take this license and we, as readers, allow it because we ***ume they have done so for good reason.

Unskilled writers oughta to stick to the rules, with things like spelling, grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, noun verb interaction and the like. Try this: 1.Think of a coherent thought. 2. Form letters into words and words into sentences and then type them into the box on the screen of your interweb machine.

Wow, if you put down the crack pipe for just a moment, maybe you could turn this into coherent thoughts that are relayed in a manner that one could actually understand without having to decipher the dribble.

Let's take this one step at a time.

As per your knockularium of those mechanically minded people of withering inteligence, my most sincere sugestion to you is to temet nosce. Not withstanding my own digression into the verbeculum undercalss of a language [american english] that has such few hestacular rules of useage, I at a minimum, employ punctaution and paragraphical separations between thought bordering induscries to more easily convey my cranial thought inferences to those whom I refered to of withering intelligences.

At a minimum, I find it paracees a more peacefull co-existance with the various undercl***lings of whom I speak... Plus it's just plain nice to at least try and communicate with plain common english. You, my friend, present yourself as an inigma to me. Not only in your digressed usage of such vernacular, but also in your persistance in such behavior by repositing a responce that infers a level of superiority to said undercl*** people by seeking to degrade them...... Can we therefore make the inclusion that "your **** dont stink"? [a****st other inferences]

Moving on to your apithany of a dry notched belt being placed at the rear of the engine, shrouded by the flywheel for the purpose of engine timing, I would refer you to the following illustration:

Please note the 2 to 1 gearing that you referenced in your original post

As to weather or not such an idea has merrit, I reply with a resounding NO. I base my ***ertions on a theroy known as Occam's Razor, which basically says the simplest solution is the best one. I also draw upon another theory known as the K.I.S.S. theory, which reminds us not to over-complicate simple things. I believe your persistance in persuing this flawed design can best be illustrated by the following:

Please note the cracked pot in above illustration, and take a moment to think about how this applies to you.

Despite whatever progress I have made towards dis-proving the functionality of your original proposal, I'm still left with the following question.

What's this got to do with traditional hot rodding any way??????

Since we have therefore established that:
#1, you are an *** hole.
#2, you dont play well with others
    #3, you are condescending
    #4, you are a crack-pot
#5, your ideas have nothing to do with traditional hot rods.
    and
#6, your idea probably wont work
I find myself in a quandry as to how to dispose of this situation...

I believe it would be in everyones best interests to call upon those fine souls who provide moderation [in an attempt] to limit our discussions to traditionaly modified modes of transportation [for the purpose of increased speed, beauty, and driving enjoyment] to execute upon this thread a closure.
