OK, I have the chance to pick this thing up cheap or maybe for a few hours trade in work on another car. The question is, what is it? I've done some searching on the web but no luck (mostly, I'm afraid, due to not knowing where to start). I think it is European because of it's small size, but I am not positive. It is an original delivery and the rear doors are sitting inside with a lot of other stuff but I can't seem to find a single emblem. The entire body structure is wood and most of it is there so it would be easy to build replacement steel structure for I think it is worth the $300 or so the guy would take. So I come to the plethora of knowledge on the HAMB for some help. Here she is. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx Jaysin
You are going to get a LOT of gasser guys hitting you up for that. Even has the semiphore slots in the body, too cool.
Here try this. http://www.mclellansautomotive.com/sales-lit/bymake/thames/index.shtml I did a search on Google for thames half ton panel. This one is a 1/2 ton not a 1/4 ton.
Wow! A rolling gasser/door slammer for $300! Seems like your getting a good deal. Bobbleed & I drove about a million milles back in 2001 from southern Wi to north of the twin cities (Mn) near Tucks place to find my sedan (just a model A) body for $250. Oh yeah I had to piece mine together out of two or more cars!!
I sold one of those grille for $350 a couple years ago, so I suspect it's worth the $300 asking price!! Get it!
Themes, because they were made along the Themes river. According to the biography of the Ford co. that I read, Wheels of Time, Mr. Ford had it in his head that all Ford factories had to be built alongside a river. No matter what country they were built in; had to be along a river.
Know what's funny? There are lots of folks on the HAMB that call for making a gasser out of the most unlikely cars. 4 door Pontiacs, Checker cabs, Packard limos, Kenworths, school busses... you know what I mean. Here's the PERFECT candidate and none of 'em say squat. Get a '64 rule book and build a proper gasser, with the right engine setback, crank center to ground measurement, etc and show the troops how it's done. Please?
You are correct about Henry's thinking, it had to do with shipping of raw material. But in this case it THAMES, River and car
