On this one I formed 5/8" square tubing for the frame. I used a bed sheet laid over it as we tacked the frame together to get the desired outline. Proportion is everything on a roadster top. Once I was happy with the outline, it was finish welded. Then 1/8" door panel board strips were pop rivited to the frame for the upolsterer to staple the material to. The entire inside is covered, and padded like a Carson top. The top doesn't fold, it's a lift off.
There is the qwik top if you do not want the stock top. You could go carson style as well. There is another HAMBer that built one like the one in Dean's post. I believe his name is Brian. In fact his RPU looks very similar to the one in Dean's post.
i believe it was built by browns metal mods out of indiana , i think they are on here there was a post the other day on a tall t sedan maybee you can get in contact with them ?
my uncles RP has a fold up top. done at a boat top shop. works good. pull it off toss it in the bed. ready to roll i'll see if i have any pics with it up. its just 2 U shaped hoops.
Mine had one of those quik tops and we made the vinyl for it. I believe the frames are being made in Washington State. I like the idea of dis***embling the frame when not in use.
