Was watching CBS "Sunday Morning" program and they were doing a segment on the renewed interest in nostalgia. "Bill Whitaker takes a trip down Memory Lane with some enthusiasts of the way things were." Which included drive inns, ball room dancing, comfort food, old time snacks, and old cars. Then they show an up close of Faith Grainger backing her 32 Ford roadster into a stall at Bob's Big Boy drive in. Some lucky guy was riding shotgun. Must have been cruise night. Maybe there were other Hamb members present. Anyone else see it?
Just seen it 10 minutes ago... Cool segment on TV .... I want to go the the Soda Pop store out in LA ..
And I want to eat chicken and waffles at that eating place. Also enjoyed seeing that early 60's home with the family driving a 56 Dodge La Femme 2 door. The inside of their home looked like Royalshifter's place.
There was a show on the Travel Channel called "Burger Paradise" that had a segment on Bob's. Saw HiboyGirl and The Deuce of Spades in that segment too.
Saw the segment this morning and my first thought was, "that must be HiBoy Girl". Then, I asked the question that poverty flats answered, "Was that fried chicken with the waffles?!" What's with that? I've never seen that combo before. Goes with the deep fried *****ies that had at the Texas State Fair. I could feel the arteries slamming shut just watching it on the tube.
Chicken and waffles must be a hot item. Google search brought back alot of hits including this one in Long Beach, CA: http://www.roscoeschickenandwaffles.com/
We go there at least once a month...amazing selection, old recipes. Lots of them with cane sugar. the way they were in the 50's....soooo much better than corn syrup http://www.sodapopstop.com/home.cfm
yeah i watch that show every sunday...bill giest is the best lol, but i also saw that segment. Oddly enough never wondered if there were any hambers there
I had never heard of the chicken and waffel combo until a friend of mine who lives in south phoenix took me to a place that serves it. It's great! I heard that Charles Barkley visits the place (when he ain't getting his oil changed in south scottsdale).
Just finished doing a feature story on Faith, the car and the movie. My sweetie and I always watch Sunday Morning and today was no different. When we saw the jitter******s, it reminded us of Faith and then sure enough, there she was. Yeah, it's gonna be a nice day...
the lbc one is great!!!!!! both the chicken and waffles are great and i seem to remember they're open pretty late.
great Sunday morning show---and Bill Giest is the best--fine segment today---helps get you threw a cold winter
Damn it!! I missed it... Cause... I don't have TV anymore ... Got rid of it. Amazing how productive you are when you don't watch TV... But then again you do miss some exciting stuff like that hiboy girl parking her deuce ooo la la .... HAHA! I can't remember who was riding shotgun with me that day... Every now and then I'll invite someone to Bob's to "contaminate" them and give them the hotrod bug hehehe... Hmmmmm.... Who was it? Well, got to go back to the garage, more rewiring awaits. Today I'm wiring my ignition coil area.
Sadly I missed it too. I sure hope someone recorded it and can post it for us to all see. Go Faith!!! -Jerry:>)
