Hot Rods Chopping Model A TOP BOWS -- How do you replace TACK STRIP?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Detonator, Jan 5, 2009.

  1. I've got a set of gennie Model A top bows I want to chop for my roadster pick-up -- but they're going to need the tack strip replaced:

    They're out of a '30 - '31 Standard roadster:

The tack strip inside is pretty far gone. I checked with LaBaron-Barney, they don't make a replacement.

The tack strip is actually TWO pieces of wood(?) stacked, to accommodate the curve of the bow.

Has anyone worked on these? Any help would be appreciated. TIA

My dad uses old strips of serpentine belts in tri-5 chevys. Might work for you.
