Plan is to do some subtle body mods and lay it out on a new frame and running gear.

I wanna bare metal it and do a nice clean simple interior.

Yeah in the woods and up a goat track.
It was in a barn hidden rite up in the mountains.
Almost killed ourselves getting down to where we could load it onto the trailer.
Will chuck some more pics up shortly.

Got all gl*** except one half of the front screen.
No bumpers or grill but all the trim seems to be there although i doubt much of it will be going back on.
Ive stripped the body back to bare steel and it looks pretty good to me.
Thank God for 3m clean and strip discs!
The original car from the looks of it was orange and it has a 'General Motors of Canada' tag.
I also have a 54 that came from South Africa.

I find it interesting that you guys have 49-50 "wrong hand drive" dashes in your 51-52's down there. guess GM saved a bundle by not redoing the dash.

I used to work with a guy from New Zealand who rode motorcycles here in the states and pulled out of a parking lot and continued down the wrong side of the street on more than one occasion. he said in a car it's easy to remember... but on a bike you don't remember til the cars are coming at you with horns blaring.

Yeah. The chop is nice but rust wise its too far gone to save.
But im still going to finish as a beater sled, get it road legal and drive it. Just leave the body and rust as is.

Did you take any pics of the 4 door conversion and chop? Thats the problem with Chevs down under - most are 'more doors'

Yeah most of the 2 doors down here have been imported from the US.
Nah ive got almost no pics of the chop and conversion.
The doors were stretched about 6" longer using some donor doors.
Its a real shame because the panels overall are all pretty good but all the drip rails and gutters are totally rotten.
The amount of time it would take to fix properly would be insane.

Tell me what you need? I got a few screens, front and rear for 51 52 and 54.
I can get most screens front and rear for 49 thru 54 from a couple of sources.

At this stage i want to leave it bare for as long as i can. Or as long as the clouds and my WD-40 budget lets me.
It will be layed on a new frame built by TDS Metalworks and running a Toyota 1uz V8 and auto.
Im going with the Jap V8 due to value for money.
I can get a complete 1uz motor, box and ECU for $1500 (USD$1000)
I figure if i want to go Chev and have it reliable i would be spending at least 3 times that.

Bought some Coker Cl***ics today. Good used set of 5 off a dudes 59 Caddi.
    Saved me a heap!

They were listed as H73-15 but i couldnt seem to find that size on the Coker website so i think they are actually H78-15

Either way they measure approx 28.5" in diameter so i can now make a start on the ch***is.
