Greetings. My name is Mike. I am 66 years old and have been into cars off and on since 1960. I have been lurking here for a long time. My first car was a 56 Ford sleeper (352 FE installed in 1960). Spent lots of time on Woodward. My second car of interest was a 67 Vette 400hp factory AC 4 speed. My current rides are a 55 F100 and a 29 Ford Coupster, nailhead powered. Been to Bonneville about 6 or 7 times since 1998. Drove the F100 a couple times. Flat towed the coupster twice to the salt and had a blast. Was an adult mentor with a local high school hot rod club until the head man retired. Still working on my coupster and friend's projects on a weekly basis.Well, I guess that's about it for me car wise. Hope to make some new friends here.
Welcome to the HAMB from Orion. Last summer I spent alot of time on woodward with Buckle. Where were you hanging out on Woodward?
Thanks for the welcome. The time spent on Woodward refered to my street racing days in 1960-61. Unfortunately, the Dream Cruise dates typically conflict with Speedweek. If I don't go to Speedweek, our crew uses the Phoenix area in Pontiac as home base. I can usually get a couple of rides up and down "the Avenue" early in the week before the cruise. and then take off for the salt flats.
Mike, Hello & Welcome to the HAMB from South Texas. Bonneville is the Greatest "car" place on earth. What's the number on car you tow to Bonneville? Lucky667
Oh okay I get what you were saying about your time on Woodward. This last year I was hanging out with Ozark, Aaron51chevy, and Buckle at the Pheonix Center on the actual day of the cruise. People hang out at the Shell gas station starting in like June. I'm not sure exactly where the station is located. Last year a couple weeks before the show Buckle and I went curising down to the Shell. We will probably start going there in like June. Weekends are the best to be there if you go way before the Dream Curise. If you go the week before the Dream Cruise any night is good. So if you get a night free come on down to the Shell.
Bumpercarkid, Thanks for the invite. Let me know where the Shell station is some time in the future and I'll stop by. Lucky667, No number on the 29. We towed it out to drive around as spectators, not compete. As soon as I figure out how to post pictures, I'll do so. I admit, posting pictures is intimidating. Anyway, the coupster we towed is a primered fenderless 29 lowboy, nailhead powered with 6X2 intake and headlight covers that looked like mooneyes. It stands out around home, but on the salt, it is just another bananna in the bunch.
Yeah I will let you know where it is when I find out. It's a great place to hang out because it's private property and when the police come through at 10 pm and say we have to go, really we don't since it's private. But I will let you know.
