Happy to be here. Have been an avid car lover since I can remember. My first hobby project (as opposed to my regular daily driver) is a 1955 Plymouth Savoy. It's a 2 door post w/ a flat head six. I plan on major chassis and drive train mods. I have always had a thing for Mopar's. Would love to hear from others who are restoring or hot rodding forward look Mopars. Thank you!
Hey, Jay. I'm the webmaster over at http://www.geocities.com/polyman64 ! Nice poly!!! You may have seen me on the 318 Poly Yahoo Group http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/318poly/ or the Poly Forum http://www.diamondbackengines.com/forums/index.php/board,6.0.html ~Jason
I have a 55 2dr Plaza that I am restoring/customizing. It has a 230 flathead 6 that I plan on rebuilding over the next couple of months. My plan is for a dual carb intake, split manifold, and aluminum head (if I can afford it). Any pix's of yours?
Man, I have one, but it ain't fer sale. At the top of http://www.geocities.com/polyman64 there's links to the Poly Yahoo Group and the Poly Forum. Try to raise Gary at the Yahoo Group and he can probably dig one up. They also pop up on eBay from time-to-time... ~Jason
Your 6-cylinder car has light springs, small 10" drum brakes, weak driveshaft, light-duty rear end, and clumsy steering linkage. The V8 models beefed up and improved all these items. But if your new engine puts out more than 200 hp, then you'll need to completely replace all the suspension, steering, and drivetrain. So what's the point in chopping up an original car? Start with one that already has the engine you want.
Welcome from GA. Im building a 46' plymouth, I say save the flathead if ya can. Look around the hamb, some of the guys are havin a hoot with these old cryco sixes. Im diggin one myself. __Bryan
Welcome to the HAMB. Nice to see another 55 Plymouth owner. We brought ours about 9 months ago. All original. The motor was tired and we replaced it with another Flathead 6 we found. Ran real nice until it dropped a frost plug and wrecked the engine. Presently sitting in the garage as we gather bits to redo the engine. Building split exhaust manifolds and twin carb intake. A little bit of lowering and just cruise it.
That P600 is total PORN, man! You should totally know better than to waltz into a seedy bar like the HAMB dressed in a slinky intake like THAT! LOL! ~Jason
Welcome to the HAMB from South Texas. If you are changing the engine, what engine are you planning to use? Good Luck. Lucky667
Welcome from Oklahoma. I have a 1918 Dodge roadster project, does that count? I have a couple of vans with 360 V8's and autos but am thinking of using a Buick nailhead and 3 speed standard that is with it.
