MJ40 - that dash is in my '34 pickup. Also on the cluster, Baxter Ford in Lawrence, KS has refurbished clusters. That's where mine is from. I think it's $300 with a core and $400 without for either the standard or deluxe.
My '36 Roadster will get a '40 dash. I'll be able to do an entire '40 dash for much cheaper than just finding a trashed roadster dash. On top of that, the '40 looks so cool.
Baxter Ford of Kansas has one on Ebay right now. Item number: 250279292567 $425 or $325 with a rebuildable core.
I decided to go against the grain and put a '40 Chevy dash in my coupster. It does have a '40 ford mirror. Jeff
Hello Wingnutz: Great hearing from you. It is very cool to see pics of our gauge clusters on the site. We build these and send them out there but seldom get to see them installed. Here are a few we've built over the past two years. Thanks to all dcstreetrods
It not only seems that the 40 dash is popular in many car conversions but it all so seems the 40 Deluxe steering wheel is very popular also.
Here's mine with the DC S----t Rods gauge set up, the black one. The gold one is in Gary Meadors [Goodguys] 40 coupe [Vodoo Child].
I like the '40 dash, but it almost seems overdone. I am putting a '41 dash in my model A. I think it's a cleaner sleeker look. mine, far from finished... another one in a roadster.
My 29 roadster has a 40 dash. I personally like the better looking 41 dash, the 51 Ford dash also looks in a Model A.
Here's mine. Made the chrome strips above and below ashtrays out of cold rolled steel cause repros weren't available way back when.
Poor pics of mine in a topless 5w 32 that is becoming a cabriolet. I found the unknown cluster at a swap. It was too wide and not tall enough to fit the 40 standard chrome bezel, so I made a multi-angled shadow box to set it into the dash deeper. The glass is still flush with the bezel. Where can I get a 40 standard repro chrome bezel?? Mine is cracked at 2 corners and I soldered it to test fit.
Cluster works for me. Looking good. dcstreetrods here on the HAMB sells the repo bezels on egay. PM him and I would bet he could set you up with one. Check post #43
They have to be done really well to look right. Otherwise they look like they don't belong. Escpecially in a '32 roadster. Often times they are installed UNDER that top lip of the dash and it just looks like a stuck on after thought with a forehead.
