I found this frame in a barn here in Colorado, the owner said I could have it, so like most of you, when confronted with free vintage car parts, I jumped on it. Any ideas as to what it is, my first thought was model a... but it appears pretty well built. Meaning I don't think I've ever seen one with that panel on the back.. It is roughly 12 feet long. I took some detail shots to hopefully assist. Pardon the messy garage, I tossed a bunch of stuff all over just to get it in and keep it out of the weather. Thanks! m
Late 20 to early 30 chevy, pontiac, mostly gm. looks just like my 28 chev except the back apron on the right side would have a fuel guage hole that you would have to get out of the car to check fuel level. early chevys wheelbase 27 to 31 is 107 inches 32 and up would be 109 inches if you want to get rid of it let me know...ghost
shoot early chevy is even better, I might want to build it up.. collect parts and go from there...I do have a 235 layin around, maybe a 6 cyl hot rod might be in the works. Thanks!
Now your talking. they can be modified to fit under anything and a 235 screams traditional. split manifold, two carbs. hmmm
I think it looks like a Barry, or maybe a Peter? I dunno, never meet it before. I gotta lay of the Methanol fumes! Doc.
Yeah I may need to find a body. I have an extra 51 truck straight axle layin around... and the 235 is coming out of my 51 chevy truck. I picked up a 327 that is goin in there. I drive that truck every day and it would be nice to get to Denver and back or to the mountains to snowboard. I got time, the right body will show up.
Yea. the foundation is a good starting point. and that chevy frame is real easy to box. and there strong when done. no flex and they look good. free is good too...ghost
I never pass up free, it was in a barn in Black Forest. I figured I'd grab it as fast as I could and figure out what it was later.
yea we built a roadster with spare parts for my son n law. mostly chrysler, dodge, ford frame, buick 51 buick. dash and a big honken hemi.
I have a mess of parts layin around, a late 60's 350, turbo 400 etc... I'll find some steel... A roadster is the number one choice for a build..
I detect excitement. I would go for it. I think you and her could both enjoy the build or at least the finished product. remember lots of pics and good luck ...ghost
Not a Chevy four (-28 or older) possibly early six, some -29-31? Or some other GM. What is the appr. wheelbase?
