Does anyone know if Don Hardy had a business logo and if so what did it look like? Also any history on the man and his business. Thanks in advance, Michael :D

A few years ago he and his son built a few hotrods. Seems like a EFI 56 Olds that was kinda cream and orange, also a slammed Chevy (or Buick?) station wagon.
His logo used to be a red, white, and blue number 1, kinda like Harleys. I might have one, I'll look and see.
He built the V-8 Vega I owned and took it to the SEMA show to display the kit. He sold it to a buddy of his who lived in the same town I do and I bought it from him.

The reason I'm asking is, I have a flopper body with all the sheet metal interior and it has a plaque that has a large "H" and "Enterprises" beside it and I thought the "H" might stand for Hardy.

  11. i still have a Don Hardy equiped 72 vega wagon...one of my good friends down in cincy is good friends with the Hardy's....his dad and Don had some racing history together on projects.....Fernado is still with him, was last i heard a few years back...my buddy called down there and hooked me up with Fernado to build me some of their famous aluminized Hardy headers for my blower wagon....got them selling them again thru a forum i used to spend all my time at...before i got Hamb'ed..................
his logo i just took pic of out of my drawer......[IMG]

nice people great fabricators...you can still call them, a lady should answer the phone...Fernado is generally around and willing to talk about the ol days,,,when i asked 10 years ago about the headers, he said they hadn't made any in a good few years...but for old friends, he could go over and unlock the "shop" "where everything was like when they was still in the race bussiness....they where making irragation pumps then and had been for awhile.....

  14. yeah mine are of the 2 decals/stickers he sent for the wagon when they built my headers...the other pic you have is also a section of the Hardy cat.....that also came with my stuff...a years back they weren't going to do much other then the headers due to the pump bussiness consuming the daily routine....but a phone call never hurt..their still where they've been for years now......

Back in 2001 I was friends with **** Harrell's daughter, and started restoration of his '69 Camaro funny car in my garage. I called Don one day and said "I'm working on ****'s car and I'm on my way down there to meet with you, is that okay?" He was glad to have my buddy and I down and met us at the pump business (I've never seen so many crate big block Chevy's sitting in one place before or since) on a Saturday morning. He took us upstairs to the storage area, walked right to one shelf, picked up a piece, blew the dust off of it, and said "you'll need this for that car." Did that all morning long! He impressed us with his ability to know exactly where things were. We came back with an amazing pile of parts left over from when he was building these cars back 30+ years ago. He took us over to his home shop and showed off the Olds and the Chevy wagon, which was under construction at the time. Great guy, great day.

I got the thrill of my young live at the age of 21 when I was working at a speed shop in Denver City Texas in 73 and my boss took a couple of us to Floydada to show us what a real hot rod shop looked like. He didn't tell us anything just said get in, lets go. We pulled up this old quanset building and I was saying to myself 'Man, how long are we gonna hang around this **** hole'. We went inside and low and behold there were Keith Black Hemi's lined up along one wall, pipe racks filled with chrome-moly tubing along the other wall, and two funny cars under construction in between. I almost pee'd my pants right there! I freaking died and went to heaven. Needless to say, the ride back to DC was a little more conversational.

THen about 8 years ago I was in Floydada visiting a friend and checking out his 50x100 barn full of restored, rebuilt, antique and project toys and we took a trip into town for lunch. While we were eating Don walked in and sat down beside us. I had to keep eating just so I wouldn't look stupid with my jaw hanging open. Got to talk to him a while about the good ole days and he invited us to his old shop to see his latest project. A bagged 62 chevy wagon with chrome-moly contoll arms front and back. Didn't get to see the body as it was up in Amarillo getting media blasted, just the frame setting up on a jig table. Was pretty sweet none the less. The old building looked just the same as I remembered it 20 some odd years ago, just somewhat empty without all the muscle parts laying around. Nevertheless it was one more day that I wont forget, and I'm starting to forget more and more.
