Movie cops need to command RESPECT...like Buford T Justice or Buford Pusser, to name a couple!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Buford T Justice! hahahahahahahaa! Man I forget about that guy from time to time. Jackie Glisan in Smokey and the Bandit right??

That movie is how I learned how to cus, and say, "Summbitch!"

Hey, weird.... The girl in that film was called frog, and there was a toad in AG...hummmm [IMG]

How many of you guys thought the dude in the Pharoahs with the pale face was creepy? The one that said, tie 'em to a car and drag him.

In that first sceen when Kirt is sitting on the hood, was that dudes face white like he was an undertaker, or what?? looked pretty creepy, oily and dead in my opinion!

Hey, what a cool halloween outfit, make your face look like a zombie, and wear a Pharaohs jacket! [IMG]

What was the movie being advertised outside of the movie theatre when Milner was getting a ticket? Is it wrong for the movie and if so, then why?

    [/ QUOTE ]

There are actually two movie advertising goofs. When Milner is getting the ticket, Cabaret is being advertised. Cabaret was a current movie WHILE AG WAS BEING FILMED in '72.

The other was that the mocked up advertising in front of the theater was for Dementia 13 that was released in spring of '63 half a year after the setting of AG.

Take a look at the AG anachronisms noted on the www.imdb.com website. Between the set and the songs there are quite a few.

    Yeah, Monster,

I always thought that dude looked dead too.
I think the casting for the Pharohs was great. Those three guys LOOKED like trouble.

  4. Back to the Pharoes, a buddy's dad grew up in the valley around Modesto and says the Pharoes are based on a real club that was mostly Mexican guys with customs etc..says they were pretty bad ass. He says that AG really does catch the spirit of the place and the time, refrences real places people hung out like Sam was talking about (the dam etc). I remember seeing More AG years ago and crying when Toad and the head of the Pharoes are in Nam and he gets killed, it just sucked.
My favorite people in the movie are: Milner, Toad, Falfa (even if he is kinda a dick)
I think they could have left Steve and his girlfriend out of the movie as far as I'm concerned, they just bugged me.

    I wouldn't do that.
    Not around here anyway...
The local chapter of Pharoahs (inliner mostly lowrider club) would take a dim view of it unless you were a member, and even then they wouldn't be too happy about a member wearing their colors as a halloween costume.. They're a bunch of cool family guys but they take pride in and are serious about their club too.

Sorry I dislexed on the keys....
It is Pharaohs, or whatever the dominant language of the area it's being discussed says it is since Pharaohs is an English translation of an ancient Egyptian word.
I find it interesting that there are so many old car club names that are ancient arabic in origin...maybe it was a Masonic influence, or wannabe influence?
    Anyone know?

    Modernbeat,
You know when that movie was release? I never even heard of it.

On the DVD they mentioned that DEMENTIA 13 was placed on the marquee as a homage to Copolla (producer). It was one of Copolla's movies. Can someone else confirm? I lent my DVD out and couldn't check this.

  11. Dr J,
I think Yule Brennor playing a Pharaoh in the movies
    might have started that trend.

Like someone starting a car club now
    called The Terminators.

    Re: DEMENTIA 13

Looked it up on the Internet Movie Data Base (www.imdb.com) a MUST for film lovers. They have trivia, goofs, alternate versions, release dates, credited and uncredited cast, etc...

I was wrong, it wasn't released in the spring of 1963, but on September 25, 1963 and yep, it was Coppala written and directed.

The most ironic bit of trivia,is that Milner (Paul Lemat) was the only one of the main characters to not "make it" in the movie business.A cult icon to us,but apparently for some reason never did another movie. As far as I know anyway.

While at Viva earlier this year,we rode an elevator with a guy wearing a car club jacket from Colorado.I asked him if he was going to the show,he says "Oh,out at the Goldcoast?" " Yeah"....That's all he said.We get out there, and right near the entrance was a tent. This guy was sitting there...took me a minute,I'll be damn, there sits Milner.I was a foot away from him on an eleveator, saw the movie at least 20 times and didn't recognize him.I guess 30 years, some booze, some drugs will change a person.Still a good memeory.

I watched the filming of the Van Nuys blvd. scenes,in Aloha bobby and Rose. A stunt driver doubbled for Le Mat,in the spinout scene,in the '68 Camaro, which they did several takes. That car was awsome, with a really healthy 302. Pretty neat film, for Le Mat,as the good guy hotrodder type. The ending was a ripoff of Rebel Without a Cause.:DSparrkee
