Ok, I have a clear ***le for my car, but I cant find the vin number anywhere on the car to verify. I have my car listed on ebay and have several people asking if the vin and ***le match. I looked on the inside of the door jamb on the windshield post and there is not one there. Not even any holes visable to indicate there formaly being one. It is a 1940 chevrolet 2 door sedan. Help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Hello, this is copied from some where else.. The serial number is located on a plate on the right side of the floor pan in front of the front seat.. ..this should help..
The early to mid 30's Chevys put the tag on the p***enger floor area near the seal plate. My 38 Chevy had it on the p***enger side cowl area. Tag was attached with screws.
check on the p*** cowl. no # on the frame. engine serial may have been used. its on a pad by the dist.
no luck finding anything on the car. I did however find the number on the engine block and it matches the cars ***le vin number. maybe this will be good enough to get it ***le in a different state.
that would work for me, and I am a licensed dealer and we consign to collector car auctions...nothing more strict that that. In many states, Wisconsin included, the engine number was used as the VIN, even if a serial number was evident on a plate of somekind. Kinda ****ed if you needed to change engines, but that is the way it was...they changed in the early 50's around here and now go by the VIN on a tag. Anyway, you should be golden!
