Total Performance closing down.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by allstarderrick, Jan 9, 2009.

  1. It is a damn shame that they could be closing down. I guess we are seeing the economy really biting things hard. It is interesting to note that there is that article in Streetrodder on the build of one.

Jimv is correct though, nothing about this on the Total Performance site, or Speedy Bills. Found this trolling the net:

    A bummer none-the-less.

  6. Jack.........After I read this post I went to your shop to see if it were true(you were out). Hope things work out for ya.............

For the rest of you, Jack is the one man show that makes the '23 bodies for Total......He also makes GREAT '32 three window and roadsters bodies.......

Yeah the WALMART OF HOT ROD all right.

After years of buying open driveline kits from The Hot Rod Works in Idaho. All of a sudden they are not buying anymore, Guess why.

They now have their own product which is a CHINESE RIP OFF, they didn't even bother to change or improve anything, just made a direct copy.

I won't ever buy from Speedy(CHINESE) bill again.

    I hate rip off artist's.

  12. I've been led to understand Florida doesn't have a state income tax. I'd be shocked if CT doesn't. Just FWIW.

Thars crazy . I was just up there about aweek or two ago to buy a used Model A instrument panel off of Pete and they were wondering if I made a decision on buying one of their frames for my 30 coupe . Mickey walked by just smiled and keep going . He is a great guy and I did acouple of turbo 350's for TP back in the day but I couldnt compete from the place he was buying them from . I was right across the street from him and offered way better service the Joe Blow Transmissions from where ever . I think at the time he was getting them from the south somewhere . Probabally built with parts from ching -ching . Thats to bad that someone else will step up to the plate here in Ct . like Mickey did and start a Street Rod / Rat rod shop . I need a job so there is the first application done .

That's a real shame, I've ordered a few parts off them over the years and their service was outstanding. Sending parts to Australia was no problem and they really went out of their way to help. It seems as though it's almost impossible to avoid buying Chinese **** these days, but basically it boils down to fact that if we keep buying it they'll keep offloading the **** to us.

Just in case any of you are interested there is a company by the name of Wysco in Irwindale, CA that imports and whole sales all kinds chinese manufactured hot rod products. Their customer list includes: Speedway, Summit Racing, Jegs, Gearhead, Bob Drake and many more. Their aluminum valve covers,m air cleaners and breather caps are pretty good stuff and they are expanding their product offering all the time. You don't always get what you think you are getting.

Seems to me that Speedway has confidence in the economy. Good for them.

The TP site really more makes it sound like Speedway bought them to buy out the compi***ion and bury it. You can't order TP parts from Speedy according to their site.
