For a modern street rod, it's a pretty good looking car. I agree that the engine plastic **** really takes away, and the woodgrain on the dash looks like a vinyl sticker and not real wood. But those are minor things.

First thing I'd do is find some chrome radio knobs and swap out those plastic heater control knobs. Swap out that woodgrain thing for an engine turned aluminum piece, then take the Autozone cold air kit and engine cover off. Then it would be pretty sweet. I'd drive it.

Nice turn signal switch, and is that a Mr. Gasket shifter?
The car and the builder are both seriously confused.

    Is this a steel car?

It does look pretty good if you ignore that plastic engine cover.

  5. Its got some cool stuff on there like that sprint car steering box. Lets call it a traditional influenced contemporary street rod .Its built to the owners taste right or wrong.

If it were mine(and it sure aint)I would pick up a 6-71 to put on that 5.7, ****can the egine cover, and maybe put smaller tires on the front. I think otherwise its not realy as bad as some make it out to be. It may be just me, but that "woodgrain" dash looks like its just yellowish paint.

The problem with the car isn't that it has a modern engine, or runs a sprint car box, or has a cheap interior, or is fibergl***, or has radial whitewalls, saggy doors, and unilug wheels....all that stuff = whatever.

The problem is that the car lacks coherence. There's just too many pieces that don't fit right. It looks to me like the builder really didn't know what the hell they wanted, and just put some stuff together.

Want a retro-ride? - Nope, sorry, missed the mark.
Want a traditional car? - again, not quite there.
Modern streetrod? - you guessed it, wrong again.

A custom build, no matter the style, needs some direction, a plan. Without it, well, you can see what happens.

I dunno if I like it, but I don't hate it.

    Shoot me if you must.

IMO, it's not stupendous, but not horrendous either.

Also, I'm not seeing any woodgrain on that dash. Looks to me like yellow vinyl that someone didn't get all the wrinkles out of when they applied it.

If the owner likes it, that's all that matters.

BTW, I dig the sprintcar steering box. I came within a hair's breadth of doing the same thing with my '36.

Kinda fad T front 1/2 strapped onto a deuce body with a mix of parts chasing a look. Unfortunately not all plans work out. And 'it's different' is no justification.

...I'm amazed at the negative people on this site. Some guy had a vision, a ton of money and wanted to create something unique. He succeded and it looks great. So what if it has a "new" hemi. Back in the early days of hot rodding were people puking when the first guy dropped a Caddy or Nailhead in his 32? Probably not.

I wish the person making a reply to a post would automatically have a pic of his/her ride included in the post. Then we would see the real reason for the negtive posts, ...ENVY.

Just because YOU don't like a particular ride doesn't make it uncool. It's ONLY uncool if the owner thinks it is. His car, his money and his time.

How about some positive thoughts, ...quite whinning.

Just my two cents, and ...I like the car, ...it's "gooder-n-grits."

You forgot to say that if we all build cars the same the world would be a boring place.

I'm with you mate, maybe he didnt built it to be traditional. I think that a lot of posts about this car would deserve a smack in the mouth if said in person
HE paid for it and HE likes it Too easy to bag somebody from behind a keyboard

    Well said.

However.... I agree with another post above.... car seems to me a mix of everything that is "hot" right now...modern FI engine like the pro-touring guys, flat paint and hood ornament for the "rat rod" crowd, etc, etc.

Go look at some late-60s / early-70s magazines and see how many muscle car parts made it onto early iron back then. Bet your see a lot of cars w/ the hottest production engine of the day, L-60-15 tires, latest mag wheels, etc. Maybe it's 'traditional' to follow what's "hot" (in some strange way).

I dunno.... the car is not my bag, but I did not build it and I do not have to drive it. At least it is not a Honda.

I'll stand behind my original statement,,,I can't put my finger on any one thing about the build that is second rate,,it appears to be built with a direction in mind and talented hands,,but for the life of me I don't know what the direction is/was.

It's kinda looks like he built a no holes bared, no expense spared show car meets rat rod style influence to me,,,that's just my observation, not saying that's what it is.

I'm sure some have looked at my cars and said,,what pile of ****,,,

Did I always hit the mark?
At the time they were built they were what I wanted,,but as time steadily marches on my ideas have changed and I would make some big changes to my roadster,,that's probably the reason it's for sale,,the cost involved I would be better of starting over from scratch.

The Hamb has grown in numbers and we all don't think alike,,,that's a good thing and most of us have been building cars for a long time and if we are branded as sheep,,so be it!

I now and have always liked the traditional styles,,and when the 80's showed up with easter egg colors and billet and twead interiors I was the guy with the black 40 sedan with black wheels and mohair interior or a primered model A truck with moon disc.

Styles come and go,,some hit the mark and some fail,,but the traditional styles never go out of style. HRP

That stupid looking air cleaner the way the combanation in the interior.....the guy must want some input or he wouldn't have posted this...to bad he didn't ask before he built it.........

What do you not get about the nature of this site??? I agree...the ugliest deuce of all time...some people just dont get it.

  21. I like the overall look of the car, I'd love to have a '32 like that. But as much as I like late model performance, that engine cover and newer air induction look goofy.

Doesn't really have anything to do with it not being traditional enough. Problem is, he took a bunch of different mismatched ideas and put them together with the end result being a car that looks like ****. Kinda like if you took a '68 Dart, put a small block chevy in it, painted it turquise blue, and put 20s on it with low profile tires. Might ride decent, and even please the guy who built it. But I doubt anyone else would like it.

I don't care for the car, but I'm suprised when the owner posted pics of it on the HAMB when he first finished it nobody had a bad thing to say, and now there's three pages of thumbs down about it.

My HemiRod is finally on the Road...
