Well, I got rid of those 70's cragar slots that were on it when I dragged it out of the barn. I almost left them on there but I would have to grow a mullet and rock out to Whitesnake. So I put chrome reverse steelies and whitewall cheater slicks out back. I also put 45 fin Buick brakes up front. It really takes the car back to 1962. I'll leave the cragar slots for a red neck to put on a 78 Nova with yellow traction bars, take a look:
Heres what it looked like with the Cragar slots when it was still on the trailer right after I got it to my house for the first time.
would look a lot better in my shop! at least from my perspective anyway. otherwise, looks like you are headed in the right direction with it. Looking good.
I'm just curious about what the plans are for this car....Is it gonna stay as is ?.....Restored with shiny paint ?....Any major changes ?......
Sweet ride! Both of them! Bet them Cragars would look good on the Coronet if they'd bolt up too! My ole man had Ansen slots on his 302Boss Mustang when it was new, so they'd be era correct. At the time HE was in the Army, so no ridiculous stereotype's are necessary to enjoy an era build.
I guess I dare to be differant. I kinda liked the look of the dull slots against the patina of the car with the side pipes. Oh and Whitesnake was late 80s
Looks wayyyy better the other wheels looked like straight dog **** on that car. Also glad you ditched the exhaust....
I plan on getting the car back on the road for this summer and then over next winter Im going to paint it my self (it will be my first paint job attempt) Im going to paint it the same shade of '59 Chrysler red. As far as the slots go they might actually end up on that Coronet because its got even bigger mullet hairband wheels on it...Weld racing wheels, or as I call them "glory hole wheels"...
That wheel/tire combo looks awesome! I don't think you could have made a better choice. I liked the slots, but I kinda like the late-60s look too. But between the two, the chrome reverse and wide whites look lots better. You're gonna love the pics... -Brad Oh, and when it's done, call me because I want to shoot it again!
