Here's what I'm working on. '64 C-10 LWB with a 250ci and 3-speed. I've got the mechanicals almost finished, I just need to rebuild the front end(including stepping the LCAs 1.5" and 3" drop springs) and do some wiring. I have a lot of rust that I'm patching up. Eventually it will have a flatbed, probably with '59 Caddy taillights. It is going to be flat copper when the body work is done. The interior and grill will be painted like the engine bay(cream colored). All the trim and mirrors are in the process of being shaved, except for the fender emblems, I like those. The 250 will get 307 SBC flat-top pistons, a cam, Offy 4-barrel intake, 390cfm Holley, SBC valves, and Stovebolt cast headers. I'm just a high school kid so my budget is extremely limited, but I'm not going to cheap out and rush it. I'm gonna take my time and build it the way I want it, and it is slowly but surely headed in the right direction.
My very first ride was a '65 C10 short stepside. Cammed out 327, Powerglide, and a 3.73 12 bolt Posi. I sure do miss that truck! I've just got an old pic of when I first got it. Same drivetrain then, only with a six banger with a 8 inch hole in the side of the block.
i really want to see how that 55 turns out and shit an 8 inch hole? wow i had to adjust a rocker arm on mine today took me like 2 hours because ive never done it before
Here's some pics of my old 69. Wish I still had it sometimes. 350 4-speed with 4 wheel manual drums, manual steering, and no A/C. And I drove it from Oregon to Florida in the middle of summer and went through New Mexico. That was the dumbest thing I could have done. Loved the truck, but the wife wanted to get a Tahoe and it was starting to break down a lot. Had 2.5" flowmasters with turn downs under the cab. I used to love running it up the rpm range and letting off the gas so it would growl at the cars next to me. Anyway, I know it might be a little newer than you guys like, but she was my baby. Ron
Yah, the old six threw a rod before I got the truck and cracked the block, so my uncle and I decided to see how long it'd run. We put a brick on the peal and let er rip. I'd never seen anything like that before, but it sure was fun! (except for the cleanup afterwords)
Dont forget about the 60-66 Chevy Truck Forum. http://www.60-66chevytrucks.com/ Classy people with Classy Trucks Oh and Ive got a 65 C-10 that I am pretty much cutting apart and putting back together again.
I have one, but it is a lowered '86. Not HAMB friendly. There are pics in the link at the bottom of my post. Slonaker
1 I sold a couple years ago, Got it from original owner, only had 77000 miles on it. Swapped the bed for a late model, fresh squirt, lowered, and new wheels and tires and it was a done deal. Had people climbing all over it @ the pomona swap meet. Had an auction right there.
