55 Cadillac Floorboard thickness

    Guys, any idea what the thickness might be on my floorboards. I'm going to be patching some holes tommorow and I need to know what size thickness sheet metal to buy also need to know to set amperage on welder . thanks :confused:

    would 18 gauge be about right? think a stick welder is too much for that thin of sheetmetal?

    Stick is not going to work so well, also if the floor is getting punky you might want take a close look at the mounts as well, I had to rebuild all of mine during what was going to be a simple floor patch job. There are 11 mounts per side from the firewall to the rear wheel tub:eek: Fortunately some Jack*** had previously "fixed" them with thin gauge aluminum and caulking, and covered it all up with heavy undercoating!
