+1 to the spray the inside of the bucket brite white. Ace hardware Has a rust stop paint that works great for that. the 2357 bulbs are a great addition too. I put them in my 71 GMC along with the white paint in the reflectors and probably tripled the light output of the tail lights. In a lot of areas blue dots = cop bait. They seem to cut down the light output of small sized lights too.
I may try that bright white idea. I wonder how much hotter the 2357 bulbs area. The bulbs are pretty close to the lens, I would hate to have it discolor them. And I am not going to do blue dots on these. I had them on my old lights, and like the way they look, but I dont want to mess up the smooth look of these.
Drill a couple of 1/8 holes in the lens on top of the bulb, they won't be seen and will let the heat out
Ha, I was wondering if someone was going to mention that. I like the idea, but it needs something else like a trim ring of sorts. It looks very plain as it is, almost 80's streetrod plain.
NICE JOB! Maybe try to find a light that would go slightly around the corner from the one you put in, or an LED light in the bumper like next to the bolt.
Not to resurrect an old thread. But I thought I would post pics of both lights done, I am really happy with the way they turned out. I used some bullet shaped bolts with lights in them for the license lights. Now I am starting to do my custom grille.
Side marker lights weren't required until '68 and most cars had little or no visibility from the sides before that. I never had a problem with a daily with no side marker lights.
Thanks, I really like that they are not what you see everyday. And I really didnt like the stock lights.
Nice work. It has the "Street Machine" vibe to it. Pastel paint is perfect for that ride. Keep on truckin'
If you're looking for trim, 67-68 mustang tail lights have a shape like that, the chrome trim is in 3 seperate pieces per light, maybe one would fit around the light with some t******* on the backside.
