Just a quick intro - at work today as a Firefighter - 24 hour shift at the station - I discovered this site 2 days ago and am very impressed... I have a lot of reading to do before any posting but this looks like a great place to find parts, projects, and good people. I have many irons in the fire - my list of projects all rough but restorable- 53 chieftain conv, 54 star chief conv, 54 bel air conv,57 bel air conv, 56 2dr. ht. and 58 impala. As you can see I've been investing in precious metal....IRON . Been doing bodywork for 35 years. Shop owner for 3 years, then decided I needed pension and benefits. Looking forward to interacting with you all. Bob
Bob, i grew up in bridgeport, neb., and return about every month to visit. Welcome from colorado! You should post some pics, that's some pretty impressive iron you have!
Bob, Hi & Welcome to the HAMB from South Texas. Good job. I'm a ret'd F/F, ret'd 5 yrs ago, it's great being ret'd. Good Luck! Lucky667
Welcome to the coolest hit rod connection on the planet!! Hey are you trying to have all the convert's in the state? Love those tin Indian's!! Hope you enjoy all the great features of the Jalopy Journal!!~Sololobo~
Hi Bob Add another welcome to the previous messages. Grant, Nebraska here. I'm bBack into hot rods after a LOT of years away. Ther 39 pictured on the left and building a 27 T roadster. Old school? Yup. Flatheads rule!! Nothing from me that couldn't be done in the late 50s. Uh, except a 12 volt alternator. Always a damned exception!! Anyway, welcome to the group. If you near Grant...Ogallala....Imperial....we have quite a few rods in the area and you'd be welcome to join our group therapy sessions. Bill
O.K. Will try to upload some pictures. It's winter and the barn is packed tight. As you can see I like em rough and rusty. More pics to follow if these work....these are basically my parts cars. Bob
Now for the convertibles and my 58 impala......Sorry it's packed, hard to get pics. Notice my overbuilt rotisserie and rolling cage to hoist bodys off the frames. I'm a one man operation, hate to ask my buddies for muscle. Cars are 53 chieftain conv 54 star chief conv 54 bel air conv 58 impala 57 bel air conv frame, engine, title vin, misc conv parts...I'm looking for a rear convertible tub 55-57 pontiac or chevy to complete this car if any one has one to sell pm me. Thanks Bob
Hi Bob, Welcome. I'm one of those "new guys" too. I'm a retired Firefighter. I retired from the Davenport, IA department in '98. Now I get to work on my toys all the time. I also have a lot of "stuff"... Tic
Hey Bob. I am in Omaha and have a 57 prostreet I am trying to finish up. I have 2 hoods and I believe one fender if your interested in. I am new here also and look on here from time to time but felt I better sign up finally. How far is your 57 rag? Cliff
Hello Bob Add my welcome to the others. I, too, am a Nebraska type. Not a native, but been here a little over four years. Love it. A BIG change from Boston and other locations these past thirty some odd years. What part of the state for you? I think you'll find a lot more car guys/gals here than most would believe. Bill
Hi - I live in the country just south of Omaha. I'm pretty well set as far as 57 chevy rag top parts. The copper colored 57 4 door in the pics will be the rust free donor for my cowl, floor, and front clip. I always wanted to build one but never had the funds to buy a complete project car. I cut the X frame and windshield post out of an unbelievably rusted 57 bel air conv that had been abandoned in the woods. Got a title and a vin tag to one that was crushed years ago. Been buying convertible parts on Craigslist and ebay as they come up, only if I can get em cheap. All I need now is the rear tub/ inner structure from a 55-57 chevy or pontiac conv. Gonna get it done "one piece at a time". I'll post pictures here as soon as I get the rest of the parts lined up to start on this one. Bob
Hello from South Omaha.I love those 50's chevys you got hanging around. My Dad and Uncle were Omaha Firefighters.Glad to have you aboard.
