I was just checking a few early ford rears that I've picked up, & I'm trying to indentify them. I tried the search, as I know there was a post on this but I'm buggered If I can find it. I've got 2 of which the torque tube lengths are 74", & two others that the torque tube lengths are 72". One of them has wide five drums on it, which to me said 39 passenger car, but the drums have open holes in the face similar to 32 fronts. Could it be a commercial axle as I'm sure they kept the wide 5 pattern for them??? thanks in advance
Wide 5 is 36-39. 39 will be juice whereas earlier verisions are mechanical brakes. I can't remember if 35 is wide 5, but they do have holes in the drums.
'35 is not wide-five - it's the standard 5 on 5.5" '36 will have rod-actuated mechanical brakes '37-38 will have cable-actuated mechanical brakes '39, as mentioned, will have hydraulic brakes I'm not aware of any juice brakes with open holes in the drums...
